I've read through as many threads as I can, and have only found anecdotal evidence in regards to how this masterpiece works, and one statement from James Jacobs referencing as probably. Here are the items that I am looking for an official answer about the masterpiece.
1. Is there a HD limit for Lullaby of Ember the Ancient (current theory is no).
2. Does the DC therefore increase with level of the bard?
3. It is listed as taking one round. Does this mean one round similar to master summoning, or one round as a full round action as it is not clear as written.
4. If it is a full-round action, does it benefit from bard levels to reduce it to a move action, and then a swift action per the effect of the action economy of bardic performance.
I'm hoping that this will finally get a FAQ attached.

1. Says deep slumber. Doesn't increase hd just targets who you want. Limit still there.
2. Dc is 10 + cha + 1/2 level
3. Move and standard to activate. I agree it isn't clear. This point I may be wrong on.
4. No. Masterpieces don't change duration cost
The reason that I'm posting for an official FAQ is that James Jacobs has directly stated otherwise in regard to the HD limit. Here is the link. It also doesn't make sense that it operates as the spell as the multiple targets is changed, duration changed, and would only be useful for 1-2 levels after you can gain it at level 7.
In regards to your answer on #4 yes, Masterpieces do change duration cost, depending on the action economy. The reference can be read here

You're being a bit misleading since JJ specifically prefaced his answer with "I guess" and then directed the questioner to ask in the rules forums.
My guess is no HD limit. But you should ask the question on the rules forums for an FAQ tag all the same.
He also does not like his responses in his thread to be used in Rule arguments, kinda evidenced by requesting them to ask in the Rules forum (it's also one of the reasons he doesn't really answer rule questions anymore).
I'd say it still has the HD limit since it doesn't mention anything about increasing it, as opposed to the Witch's Slumber Hex which does specifically call out that it affects a creature of any HD.
As for only being useful for a few levels after you get it that applies to the spell it's based on as well so it's not that odd, instead of having it affect only the weakest creatures you can specifically target a strong one so that seems like an ok trade.

1) yes
Witch Slumber removed HD explicitly but Lullaby doesn't.
FAQ on Ring of Invisibility touches on "as invisibility" to pull in things like duration.
Lullaby of Ember the Ancient pulls in deep slumber and only changes target to one target, so the HD limit is retained.
2) D.C. Is 10 + cha + 1/2 level as per Supernatural
3) "1 round" isn't correct terminology, so ask your gm.
4) Doesn't change with bardic performance reducers.
As for official answers, we have a lot more questions that are more contentious as of yet unanswered that will likely be answered first.
