Cape of Feinting Errata

Homebrew and House Rules

So the forever stun-lock of the cape of feinting was bad and I get that but a DC 13 will save? That seems seriously weak compared to a cloak of Resistance. Even with APB, there should be more reason to waste my turn locking down a single target.

Anyone have any suggestions to buff it back up a bit? Maybe make it a disarm check?

Magic item save dcs are generally balls and easily made by the time you have the wealth to buy them, its kind of part of why people focus on the standardized cloak of resistance, belt/headband of + stat, ring of protection, amulet of natural armor etc etc when they spitball characters.

Totally true. But my GMs both favor ABP so I have a fun cloak. DC 13 just isn't worth it.

This is the homebrew forum. I was hoping to at least have a few suggestions.

Well if you're using ABP you consider sweet talking the GM into making the item a scaling one?

The exact formula for doing this aren't something I've looked into (and look more art than science at a glance anyway) but it's probably the cleanest way to make the DC competitive without it scaling as well as a proper class feature. It can also be an excuse to add other goodies to it as well.

Not a bad idea. I feel like Swashbucklers should have a Cloak and Sword fighting style option in their class anyway but that could still work.

Not a style, but there's Dueling Cape Deed.

There's also Equipment Trick for cloaks, which anyone can get.

Thanks, those are very interesting. I'd rather not spend two feats but it's definitely something.
