Would they also have a 10ft reach if they were using a weapon?

Quote:
Space 5 ft.; Reach 5 ft. (10 ft. with claws)

If you are asking 10 ft with claws, then it only applies to claws not weapons because they are 5 ft reach.

If you are asking 10 ft at all, you get the natural weapons. Their claws are a weapon. There is no direct rules telling us how we get the weapons. The easiest is to say we get everything about the weapon unless some component is an Ex, Su or Sp rider.

If they are using a reach weapon. Otherwise, it's as James said.

Also note that while sewer troll is technically legal for alter self, it's not legal for pfs, and it may not fly for all home games.

I am running my players through Rappan Athuk. I think I will be nice and allow it.

Cool. I don't think reach in a natural attack is that overpowered for a second level spell, but some might.

In favor of this position, you could always argue with Enlarge Person and Long Arm - both provide reach and have the same duration as Alter Self (1 minute per level). And, most importantly, they are level 1 spells.

More importantly, they both allow reach with manufactured weapons, which is generally more useful than just claws.

I had an angelkin aasimar alchemist//paladin in Emerald Spire use her racial alter self spell-like ability to turn into a sewer troll. The reach was very helpful for taking down goblins with horsechoppers.
