Is there anything the impedes this working ? I read this thread from a while a back on vital strike not working for overwatch style because vital strike is modified attack action (or that was the consensus I understood from it). For FF it is very explicit that it is standard action and it is a ranged attack.

Triggering an attack of opportunity from your frontliner buddy, your familiar (eldritch guardian) or your animal companion (hunter, sacred huntmaster) seems like a pretty powerful option to me.

It's good, but only works if your team mate decides to take the feat and decides that risking occasionally being hit by your arrows is worth it.

I can tell you as a player, I would not be willing to participate in that.

In the case of a familiar or animal companion you can make it work though.

I'm afraid that does not work mechanically. With Overwatch Style, you don't ready 2 Standard Actions, but 2 ranged attacks. Initiating Friendly Fire is a Special Standard Action that includes a ranged attack, but is not defined as a single Ranged Attack.

Would be different if Friendly Fire said something like "Whenever you make a ranged attack as a Standard Action and..."

I could be wrong though, but that's my understanding of the rules.

Oh, that's a good point!

You don't get to just ready whatever, it appears to just be ranged attacks specifically, not even standard actions. So things that require a standard action to do probably don't work.

Just like the reason Vital Strike doesn't work.
