Aside from things like dueling, jousting and gladiatorial games do any sports exist on Golarion?

I would expect horse racing and foot races to be common among the Shoanti

Archery contests are likely to be common as well just about everywhere, given the number of bows available. In fact, contests for champions using any of the available weapons are also likely to be pretty popular.

Since there's a god for that, safe to say there's plenty of athletic competition in Golarion.

I think the OP might be asking for more modern sports, like football. Or European futball. Or reverse football. Personally, I can absolutely see Orcs and company coming up with an only slightly more brutal form of the latter.

Does Quiddich count?

orcs probably invented rugby

Modern sports were more what I was thinking. Something played with a ball perhaps.

Scarab Sages

I can see polo probably being popular in any Persian influenced regions, and maybe even in some of the more recent historic analogue areas like galt or taldor.

Wikipedia shows that there are references to a baseball like game going back to the 1200s which should cover most of the inner seas civs. Cricket is also a 1500s 1600s era origin and should fit within golarion.

Bet some of Arcadia's nations have lacrosse teams...

Pirates play Hog Lob, if that's a sport at all.

I posted this in the other thread talking about diversions/entertainment, but the sport boundball in Arcadia is very popular over there. Larger settlements often have boundball courts and there is an international tournament that pits 12 qualifying nations against each other. The championship rotates between 7 different cities that host the event each year, and draws huge crowds.

Is boundball anything like ullamaliztli?

Paizo Employee Developer

That was one of the base inspirations, but it's slightly different. In my head, boundball started off as ullamaliztli but changed over the course of consistent play for the last few thousand years.

If you are searching for historical analogies :
- wrestling a is traditionnal sport since centuries in lots of culture : Mongolia, Turkey, western Africa (Senegal and Gambia). Rules vary often a little but it is maybe the oldest sport in history.
- le jeu de paume is an ancestor of tennis, created by french in medieval age. The game could be played with bare hand, a glove or using a racket. It was highly popular in the european nobility but also in the common people, who were gambling on it a lot. King François 1er even officialized professionnal players in 1527.
- polo is supposed to have been created 2500 years ago in central Asia
- if rugby is a modern sport, it takes its roots in several popular games from medieval age like french Soule, english Gaelic football, italian Calcio Fiorentino. All these games were played by common villagers and were at the same time a way to distract people and to solve small conflicts, usually by punching the other. Wounds and broken limbs were not uncommon.

Boundball also sounds very interesting. Which brings the question to mind... How common are Arcadians in the Inner Sea and surrounding regions?

I hear that Blood Pig and Knivesies are both big in Korvosa... at least in certain circles.

Page 15 of "Inner Sea Races" answers that for you. To paraphrase:

Arcadians are so rare in the Inner Sea region that people mistake them for more commonly encountered human ethnicities.

Yes, in Katapesh, they have ruk teams. In ruk, you have a team of ten players on the field. There is a sand filled leather ball. It is similar to basket ball, but you don't bounce the ball. You throw it to other teammates that try and shoot it through a hoop at the other teams end of the stadium, strike a brass gong behind it. The play goes for an hour. The team that scores the most points in that hour wins.

sport fishing
hunting
boxxing.....
