Ok we gonna replay this one.
It seems if I get it right this time that in order to win you need to defeat the villain in a location without the five pointed sun and at the same time have another character at the location with the pyramid that temp closes it at the same time?
But then how do you win solo?
Ok I must be tired... can someone explain?

Thanks Keith. I am always amazd by the help you sharks provide to make this game a blast.
I guess what I forgot is the last sentence of that part of the rules:
Flip the location card over. If any villains remain in the deck, banish everything except the remaining villains and shuffle the deck; the location is not permanently closed, but if there are no other open locations for the villain to escape to, banish the villain.
I. E. The villain can always escape to his own location except when all others are closed or temp closed. So indeed you need to close or temp close all locations (except maybe the one under the five pointed sun) and defeat the villain where the five pointed sun is.
Much better thematically.Do we have it right now?

That rule only happens if there are other villains in the same location deck. If no other villains are found, it can escape back to its own location should it be impossible to permanently close it, even if all other locations are closed.

Hmm. I remember a big discussion around this scenario and location and thought I had it right, but it was many months ago, so I'm going to have to defer to Vic or Mike for its final disposition.
Sorry to resurrect this, but I'm very curious. Was there ever any developer resolution on how to win this?
It seems to me that the villain can escape into the Five-Pointed Sun unless you get lucky by having another character at that location (or have the right loadout of being able to move on another player's turn) AND the Five-Pointed Sun isn't where the villain is (so that he escapes into his own location that cannot be permanently closed). We beat it once a few weeks ago, but I'm still not sure that I was understanding correctly.

Still don't understand how you win solo (not that I care, I never play solo, but it makes me wonder if there is a rule I don't play right)...
As-written it is impossible to win solo. The card and/or rulebook needs an FAQ.

Your FAQ refers to Five Pointed Star where it should be Five Pointed Sun.
Fixed. Thanks.
To be clear, temp closing every other location and defeating the villain at the Five Pointed Sun is now a win, since it doesn't specify other locations must be permanently closed?
The rules for Attempt to Temporarily Close Open Locations include this: "Temporarily closing a location only prevents the villain from escaping there during this encounter; it does not trigger any of the other effects of closing a location, and the location opens again immediately after the encounter."
