Books to get Back into things

Horizon Hunters

I have been away from Pathfinder a long time now. I enjoyed it's early days but then another system caught my and my groups eyes and well... There is no easy way to say it. We left for another system. It's not that we didn't love Pathfinder. We did and we still do it is just Pathfinder was more of the old comfortable relationships we had had with D&D without the baggage.

Anyway I may be having a new fling with a new Pathfinder group on a different day. We have that kind of openness. So as someone who bought to the early edition of Pathfinder and have up until Ultimate Magic in the way of books has there been anything I should pick up and catch up on? Or is this the same.

Unchained is considered necessary. It updated several lower tier classes in very meaningful ways

After that nothing is truly necessary though below are some of my favorites. They are in order of how much I like them. Not sure the order everything was released so sorry if I put something you already have. Welcome back :)

Ultimate Equipment- best reference document for equipment of all kinds
Advanced class guide- provides hybrid classes which are much nicer than multi classing
Ultimate Intrigue- has a ton of things for the clever and inventive play
NPC Codex- very useful as a dm
Ultimate Combat- this was released after ultimate magic right?

Most other books contain far more specific stuff that I would only get for a specific character concept. IE: An asmodian lawyer would probably want book of the dammed vol. 1. The PFSRD is a great website for looking up game material and I highly support its use

I would also recommend looking at the Advanced Race guide if you want more race specific options.

I love the classes in the Advanced Class Guide. I think I'd consider this one necessary.

Unchained is all optional, and you may or may not like it. I'd check it out here on the Paizo PRD before I bought.
