Looking Back, And Forward - Reflections On Things Past and To Come

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

The end of the year is upon and I’ve managed to play a ton of Pathfinder. So I want take some time to reflect on the fun I’ve had and talk about what I’m looking forward in the coming year.

So what have you accomplished in your pathfinder games this year? Have you completed or just begin a campaign? Have you run any modules or adventure paths you would recommend? What memorable moments have transpired in your game? What are you looking forward to in 2017?

2016 has been pure bol locks on many levels. Though this one is about pathfinder so here goes;

-As GM, longtime group on definite hiatus due to real life stuff. Mummy Mask AP stopped at mid-point.

-As player, second longtime group GM got burned out on Jade Regent AP midway and we stopped indefinitely to play DCC. (Fun for a few nights, but is getting extremely long in the tooth at this point)

Sorry to be a downer but 2016 has been rubbish.

For 2017;
-I'm hoping to get first group back together to pick up where we left off in Mummy Mask.

-Going to ask second group if they want me to run Iron Gods because I cant take anymore DCC.

It's ok man they can't all be great years. This is just as good a place as any to vent about a bad gaming year as it is to cheer about a good one.

Sovereign Court

Im optimistic about going forward. I just wanted another chance to kick 2016 in the nuts!

*Side note* I am hoping I can find somebody to run a Traveller game for me because I am tired of always having to GM one.

This year wasn't even that bad tho

My Jade Regent campaign has reached the top of the of the world. We are taking a break to play a one off module (AP take us so long, we want a chance to play new classes sometime)

Kingmaker has become more dangerous. Started 4th book this year and already had 3 character deaths.

Serpents Skull has been rolling on.

Been a normal year, too many cancellation but enough good times.

1) I started GMing Iron Gods in July of 2015, and we just recently got into the first dungeon exploration of The Choking Tower module. I took a 2 month gaming break for wedding preparations, but we're moving forward again.

2) My second group comprised of high school friends and their kids are currently playing a Pathfinderized version of the D&D 2E Night Below campaign. The GM allowed me to play a Star Wars Saga Edition Jedi reimagining it as a psychic monk following the psychic magic rules from Occult Adventures.

3) Later next year I might possibly run The Dragon's Demand converted to the DragonLance setting.

Dragonlance is my favorite setting I'd really like to see a faithful playermade conversion to Pathfinder.

Sweet! I have a thread called Running The Dragon's Demand in DragonLance in the Conversions forum if you would like to check it out.

Spent most of the year verrry slowly running a Serpent's Skull game. It had some great moments this year, but I'm kinda bored of it. I made some mistakes at the start and they've been haunting the entire run.

Starting setting up a Rappan Athuk game to scratch our group's collective itch for dungeon crawling, and the game has kicked off with an excellent run through "Crucible of Freya". My players are currently enjoying the hell that is the Ruined Keep portion of Freya. They are doing well, but I'm afraid the next session may break them. If it does, though, they will be remembered as heroes forever.

Besides that, I also found a game I could play in as a player, and it's been pretty good so far. Been running a Hunter, my first experience with Nature Casters and Animal Companions.

Next year, I'd like to get a regular game going with a dedicated group. In addition to Rappan Athuk, I'd love to do a Cyclopean Depths game, and I'd also like to finally try my hand at running an urban adventure.
