I'm wondering what kinds of creatures would make sense to use in a campaign based around fighting the cult of rovagug. Outside of humanoid cultists, orcs and trogldytes, would it make sense to use some aberations? Where there are evil wizards and clerics there can easily be undead. I'm just trying to avoid having combats become stale from always fighting the same things. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'd honestly advise against the Tarrasque. Simply put it's...not a very good monster to fight. Either your players run roughshod over it (which is very easy considering it has some very, very exploitable weaknesses such as no flight, no way to see invisible, +12 will save, etc) or they just get run over if they're...poorly built for lack of a better word for it.
The ole Tarrasque needs a lot of help if you want him to be a compelling boss.

I think lorewise it is believed that Rovagug is either a creature spawned by Senile Old Doot Doot in the Stars (Azathtoth) which ended up being used by the other old gods to destroy the multiverse, or is an ancient as f+@& qlippoth that has grown fat on eons of destruction.
What this means is that you can draw from both groups of creatures for your campaign! Rovagug would probably attract the attention of demon-worshippers, Mythos cults and anything those groups could subjugate (like ogres, trolls, and undead). You have a lot of stuff to work with, honestly.
