Available slots followed by either “(saddle)” or “(horseshoes)” denote that creatures of that body type can only wear magic items in the appropriate slots as long as they are either saddles or horseshoes, respectively (for instance, a hoofed quadruped can wear a saddle of the sky-river, but not a belt of dwarvenkind).
If it has 2 legs check the list. It might be possible can't use boots at all.

I didn't actually think about it before, but what "animal" only has two hooves?
I can think of lots of monstrous humanoids, a couple fey, and a couple magical beasts that do, but the item specifically references "animals", so one could assume the author is referring solely to creatures of the [Animal] type.

Only one I can think of for PCs is tiefling with fiendish sprinter alternative racial trait.

Biped (claws/paws) Armor, belt, chest, eyes, headband, neck, ring, shoulders, wrist
Biped (hands) All item slots
Looks like hands biped creatures have normal PC item slots (not horseshoes) and clawed bipeds don't get boots or horseshoes at all.
