Paragon Surge Abuses

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

In another thread I have been discussing a new spell idea. In some ways it is similar to Paragon Surge and I was told about how bad Surge was abused at first. So in a desire to look closer at possible abuses for the spell, I wanted to know what abuses happened in a sub group of Paragon Surge. Specifically abuses using it to get different Combat Feats in a day

The official ruling with paragon surge was that each time you cast the spell you got the same feat for that day (and if the feat gave you limited uses per day, casting the spell again did not reset the number of uses).

As a GM, any similar sort of effect I would rule the same way. Same day gets you the same feat.

I understand that, my curiosity before I show my official first draft to my GM, is what was abused before the FAQ. I can defiantly see abuses with limited use feats, Feats that grant extra abilities, etc...I am curious what abuses occurred in the Combat Feat Subgroup however to determine if the spell is OP without the 24 hour limit...

I personally don't see the need right now for it, because the abuses I see listed have been non combat orientated (Mostly class feature/spell), but want to make sure it is not just my limited sample.

Largely the issue was that it gave spontaneous casters access to their entire spell list via Expanded Arcana. It also arguably gave Oracles access to almost the entire wizard list through Improved Eldritch Heritage (Arcane bloodline for bonus spells known).
