Making horseman of the apocalypse

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So I am trying to do an apocalypse campaign and I have an awesome idea for a pestilence villain but I have no idea how to do it. I'm looking for a swarm and vermin controller. If you guys have any good ideas let me know.

The End is Near!

Since the first spark of mortal life took form, the daemons have sought to extinguish it. Evil in its purest form, these terrors seek nothing less than the end of all existence. Led by the Four Horsemen—War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death—the armies of Abaddon work to corrupt, consume, and destroy everything around them. Perfect nihilists, the daemons seek only to be the last entities looking down on the dying cinders of the cosmos before they themselves are consumed, and only darkness remains.

Within this book, you’ll find:

Complete descriptions of the Four Horsemen and their armies of soul-devouring daemon servitors.
An overview of the wasteland realm of Abaddon, the private domains of its masters, and several other forsaken locations.
Rules for the daemon-worshiping souldrinker prestige class.
An introduction to the soul economy, and how captured souls are traded and used by fiends and mortals alike.
Secret histories of previous Horsemen.
New daemonic spells and magic items.
Overviews of the different castes of daemons, plus tips and tricks to aid in their summoning.
Statistics for eight new daemons ready to bring the horrors of the cosmos to players’ doorsteps.
Horsemen of the Apocalypse is intended for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and Pathfinder campaign setting, but can easily be used in any fantasy game setting. While Horsemen of the Apocalypse is a standalone product, it also serves as a companion to Princes of Darkness: Book of the Damned, Vol. 1, which details the legions of Hell, and Lords of Chaos: Book of the Damned, Vol. 2, covering the hordes of the Abyss.

Druid might be a good start. They can get pretty good with summoning swarms, and with traits you can make mind-affecting spells work on vermin.

Probably going to need some houserules though. You might get better help in the advice or houserules forums.

Bug varient worm-that-walks. Seen it done before.(won't spoiler where)

Be forewarned, I understand the Horsemen statblocks are not in that book (though there should be an abundance of extremely useful information.)

Personally, I'd go with a Pestilence Bloodline Sorcerer.

What level/CR are you looking for?

The traditional Four Horsemen were, in order, the Conqueror, War, Famine, and Death. "Pestilence" was actually just one of the types of death that the Horseman of Death represented.

Pick a cool creature and add this template to it.

Starting CR 15

Go to the SRD and look for the Herald of the Apocalypse archetype. It should be just what you need Imo.

It's literally perfect! Except now i have another inquirey. I have made this campaign a gestalt game. I only have 3 players so it's fine, however for a villian or servitors of the apocolypse i will also make them gestalt, or the players will wreck them in 2 rounds. So here is my question.
What class goes well with Druid for summoning swarms and spreading disease?
And where do i find the bug varient of the worm that walks?

Lastly what some ideas for an avatar of famine with classes and races?

If you want a sense of irony. Use either a Treant, Dryad, or Nymph as a Avatar of Famine. As for classes. Something like a Assasin, Necromancer or anti-Paladin. Any class with a low regard for life.

That is excellent!

I saw this thread and immediately thought about Apocalyptic Horseplay

I really need to get out more.

How about adding the template to a Shoggoth. Or a Gibbering Mouther. Both are likely candidates to eat everything in their path. Causing more and more famine. Or make it a Eldar Thing. Angry for the decline of their race.

I can do that!!
