Is there a way to Quicken a Spell like ability? Is there a way to change what action the spell like ability activates on? It is my understanding you have to use a standard action to activate a spell like ability.
I noticed looking through some Devils that they can cast quickened Fireballs. How do they do this?

Metamagic rods can not be used on spell like abilities. There is a Quicken Spell-like Ability feat, however.
Monsters have whatever abilities their designer wanted. There doesn't need to be a reason for something - if the designer wanted them to cast quickened Fireballs, then they can cast quickened Fireballs. Though some of them may have the Quicken Spell-like Ability feat, like the pit fiend does.
To my knowledge only the Quicken Spell Like Ability feat can allow a PC character to do so.
Metamagic rods as mentioned only apply to spells being cast, not SLA or Su abilities.

I find it funny that pazio can employ someone to sift through comments, arbitrarily deciding which aggressive comments are passive enough to keep, but they can't pay someone to do product support
