Stupid Cleric Spell Question what does 1+1 mean on the spell list

I am a rusty DM and player is rolling a Cleric he has a 19 wisdom

on the level 1 cleric table it says he has 3 0 level spells and 1+1 1st level spells.

I went to his table on the bonus spells and assigned him the proper bonus spells +1 extra at each level ending at level 4.

my brain fart is what the heck is the 1+1 mean? is that just 2 first level spells or 1 1st level spell and +1 domain spell?

can somebody spell it out for me???

Yes, the +1 is the domain spell slot.

So, each day, the cleric can prepare three 0-level spells (which aren't used up when cast), two 1st-level spells, and one of her two 1st-level domain spells.

The +1 is the domain spell slot. Druids have a +1 too if they select a domain instead of a companion. It's listed independently to remind you that you can't spontaneously cast to replace the domain spell and that the slot can only be used to prepare spells from one of your domains.

The latter. They have X number of spells per day per spell level, plus 1 domain slot to fill. You'll note that every spell level has +1 on it.

so even though that they have 2 domain spells they have to only pick one to put in that slot

Yes.

Just a note, in case it comes up: The other domain spell can be prepared in another general slot, if desired, but only if it's already on the Cleric Spell List. So a 1st Cleric with Fire and Good domains could prepare Protection from Evil (Good Domain) in either the domain slot or a regular slot. However, that Cleric could only prepare Burning Hands (Fire Domain) in the domain slot.
