Totemic Skald

Rules Questions

I've searched the boards, but I can't seem to find any consensus on what is and isn't different from the wildshape ability this archetype grants versus a druid.

Full disclosure, my goal is to be able to be a raging gorilla, but it is a large creature.

The totem wild shape is limited to a type based on your animal focus, determined by GM discretion. I suppose, if you chose monkey, you'd be able to go gorilla at level 7, when you have access to large size "monkeys", but expect heavy DM variation.

Well it makes the distinction of not taking on other shapes or animals like wild shape later goes on to do.

That means since it's telling you what you can't do, everything else is fair game... At minus one level. That's size changing.

Assuming your GM allows gorillas to be in the monkey grouping (I don't even want to get in on that...) a gorilla would be a good large creature and a massive silverback advanced type would make an exceptional huge one. On the flip side many small monkeys could go tiny.
