Under the description for the vanity for the bone wayfinder, it says that druids and rangers can choose to use it as a divine focus. My question is this, can hunters also use bone wayfinders as a divine focus since they are a druid/ranger combo?

I wouldn't count on it.

Stuff some free mistletoe inside the compass part, just to be safe.

Druids local 704 says yes.

I'd allow it. It fits.

On a practical matter, how often do GMs ask "What are you using for your divine focus?"

True servants of Erastil have reliquary longbows. Everything else is just a toy.

I've never been asked that question, however there are only about 18-20 of us. We've been getting more people to join slowly (I joined in January). So we all know and trust each other pretty well, so if I haven't been asked if I have a DF I assume it's because I'm trusted enough to have one.
