Brawler & Core Feats

Advice

Is worth to play a Brawler (the ACG class) with the limitation on Core Feats and without Style Feats?

What are the limitations on Feats for Brawlers?

Only Core Rulebook Feats.
For my GM the class is ok, but he dosn't want an endless list of feats from many books or other sources and I'am asking if is worth to play with a Brawler.

Eh. You'll still be pretty functional, and great at maneuvers, but I'd probably go Mutagenic Mauler or something with that limitation.

It depends a bit on how high it will go, but to my mind. there are enough variety within the core book for the class to work. However this is just an opinion, not bassed on any experience.

Is this official? Can you link to the official source of the change, please?

For my own character, I was thinking oftaking a level in Brawler to sometimes have Blind Fighting, sometimes have Precise Shot, and sometimes have Quickdraw, so the change doesn't affect any of my current character builds.

He is talking about a house rule and asking if the class is still viable with that house rule.

Personally I think it would be fine. I might though make a counter offer to the GM or having a reasonably short list of 'pre-approved feats' maybe 20 or so, but that could be pulled for other sources (and possible even changed from time to time, like when leveling up) but only the feats on the list could be used during the game. This would probably alleviate his issues with having both him and you have to figure out things from a huge pool in the middle of the game, but would let you keep flexibility and go in some directions that aren't really possible with just the core feats.

It's still playable then, but it's not very good. If you still want to go Brawler, pick one of the archetypes which gives up Martial Flexibility. (Snakebite Striker isn't bad.)

The main advantage that a normal Brawler has is to get a half a dozen or more feat choice clumps which you put on index cards or some such. Then you can access niche feat chains only when they're most useful.

Ex: Against Mirror Image/Displacement - just close your eyes and suddenly you have Greater Blind-Fight.

etc.

Entirely depends on what you want from the character.

If you want full martial prowess then you might wanna skip it, however you could spend your normal feats on RP related things that enhance your non combat role and use Flexibility to gain your combat feats as you see fit and you'll most likely have a decent time playing the character.

Something like Master Craftsman to pick up Craft Magic Arms and Armor can get you access to magic gear and you can get Brawling going on your armor, and since gauntlet creating is part of armor crafting, you can use the same skill to also enhance your gauntlets as weapons. That would probably be my approach with those limits.

Thanks. I missed that.
