Telekinetic Charge: Straight line?

Rules Questions

Something that came up in game today: does Telekinetic Charge have to be a straight line? We were debating this. The only thing that specifies one way or another is being able to lift your target over attacks. Personally I view it as lifting and launching the character, but I was curious if there was anything that indicated this was more than GM's choice.

'you can lift your ally over objects and out of enemy reach, as long as your ally remains within this spell's range.'

No, no straight line is required. It's not even implied anywhere I can see.

Despite the name, the spell doesn't seem to use any of the rules of a charge.

It also uses the word launch as the first description for what it does.

So I'd say launch sounds a whole lot like the straight line in the charge rules. That combined with charge is a straight line and with flying you can fly up in the air to attack a flying target. I'd say it is in fact both RAW and RAI a charge.
