Feral Hunter: Feral Focus and Wild Shape

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

Can a feral hunter have feral focus and wild shape active at the same time?

Only one polymorph effect can be active at a time, but only the cosmetic changes from focus are cosmetic.

If I become a large animal, I get a size bonus to STR, but feral aspect (bull) gives an enhancement bonus.

So far, it seems as if they should work together.

But...

While under the effects of a polymorph spell, you lose all extraordinary and supernatural abilities that depend on your original form (such as keen senses, scent, and darkvision), as well as any natural attacks and movement types possessed by your original form. You also lose any class features that depend upon form, but those that allow you to add features (such as sorcerers that can grow claws) still function.

(emphasis mine)

Given my usual tendency to interpret rules in the least beneficial way, I would say that I cannot use them together, unless feral focus is among the abilities "that allow you to add features".

What say you?

The enhancement bonus isn't tied to the cosmetic changes. So you still get the bonuses while wildshaped.

You can't use two polymorph effects simultaneously.

@Theconiel, sometimes reading comprehension is a thing ;-)

If I read the description correctly, the cosmetic changes from feral focus (yellow eyes, orange-and-black striped beard) do not happen, but the enhancement bonus (+2 DEX) does happen if I take aspect of the tiger. The former is a polymorph effect; the latter is not.

The entire ability is a Polymorph effect.

If the entire ability is a polymorph effect, why does the description specify that the effects of the animal focus are not a polymorph effect?

Yea I also missed (like Azten) that they deviated from the normal. That is the reason I said reading comprehension is a thing, this is a hard to read ability.

It is a polymorph effect with some non-polymorph parts.

I shall ask my GM.

Thus far, I have used Wild Shape twice: once to disguise myself as our sorcerer's familiar (she does not have a familiar, but the bandits did not know that), and once because I needed to fly up onto the top of a wall. I only now thought of a situation where I might want to engage in melee in animal form. Having reached level 6, I can transform into a Large animal (my first thought was Dire Tiger) and I would like an enhancement bonus to STR in addition to the size bonus. It's still not as powerful as a real dire tiger, but pretty good.

It seems to me like Feral Focus has been specifically worded to try and allow you to use both at the same time. Not necessary a RAW ruling for the rules forum but it's almost 100% clear on what the RAI is.
