did you check the Errata document for Advanced Class guide?
"Page 104—In the Arcane Deed magus arcana, after the
second sentence, add the following sentence: “Even if he
gains a panache pool through another means, the magus
is not considered to have at least 1 point in his panache
pool for the purpose of deeds selected with arcane deed,
and his effective swashbuckler level for determining
such a deed’s effect is 0.” In the Flamboyant Arcana
magus arcana, replace the second sentence with “The
magus can spend only points from his arcane pool (not
panache points) to use these deeds and any other deeds
he gains from the deed arcana. He can’t use points from
his arcane pool to use deeds from other classes or those
gained by feats, nor can he regain points to his arcane
pool as a swashbuckler would regain panache points.”"

That it seems more confusing than it should be, for a clarification.
I just look at it and wonder if Panche and Arcane pools were being used at the same time or if there was a Panche pool created for some reason for the....
anyway, seems a lot for something to say "This ability uses Arcane pool because... Magus."

Among other things, I believe a one-level splash of swashbuckler (inspired blade) was in vogue for magi for some time, at least until the recent change to Fencing Grace.
Thus, the idea of a character with both panache and arcane pool was not all that inconceivable. ^_^
(Also, this particular change was officially made as - and called - errata, not simply a "clarification".)
