Dayfinder

OK, so far the word is a Dayfinder is CORE? Right?
I know it needs to be bought with prestige, not gold, right?
If I am wrong what book is it?

Are you talking about a Wayfinder?

The wayfinder is not in the core rulebook. The wayfinder has been in:
Shattered Star players guide
Pathfinder Campaign Setting
Pathfinder #2 The Skinsaw Murders
Inner Sea World Guide
Seekers of Secrets

Grand Lodge 2/5

No. He's talking about a Dayfinder (upgraded wayfinder) that's found in the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. It is not core legal.

Contrary to what thewastedwalrus says a basic wayfinder is core legal as you can also find it in the PFS Guide to Organized Play and the contents of the guide are core legal.

Ah, I'd never heard of it. I don't really know what it means to be "core legal", all I know is that the standard wayfinder can't be found within the core rulebook.

I am assuming that he is referring to the newer mode of PFS organized play, called Core Mode.

Core mode uses a very limited list of resources for PC legal material.
Core Rulebook
Web Traits Web Enhancement
Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide
And a list of ethnic languages from the Inner Sea World Guide

So is this a combination of a Wayfinder and Dayplanner? If you don't know what a Dayplanner is, you are definitely too young.

It casts daylight once a day. If you're a non spellcaster its an alternative to 750gp a shot oil of daylight

Me and the Judge in my last game tried to find it in the Pathfinder Field Guide with no luck.

Just FYI -

Here it is

I found the Dayfinder in another source, but it looks like a 'pirate' source so I will not post here.

The field guide isn't allowed.

The allowed sources are:

-Core Rulebook
-the free PDF that explains PFS rules
-the character traits web resources bit (as modified by additional resources)
-and the first Bestiary to a limited degree regarding summon spells and a few others.

And that's it.

What isn't allowed is just about everything else. You can't even get/use some chronicle sheet items because they aren't core.

This is wrong. The Chronicle sheet you get from completing a scenario is one of the few ways you can get access to stuff outside of core.

Indeed. It is how my core sorcerer owns pages of spell knowledge. antiplagues, smelling salts and lesser talismans of freedom amongst other things.

Which is also called a "Guide" so it is confusing. The Campaign Setting is NOT legal. The PDF referenced by Murdock is the "Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide" and is legal and is where the Wayfinder is found (but not the Dayfinder).

Not it's not. I've had this discussion already. Some things work, others don't.

Example: Confirmation gives you the wayfinder that costs 1 PP and grants a discount on further wayfinder upgrades, despite their being no legal wayfinder upgrades. So you can only use half of what is printed on the chronicle sheet.

That is different you're talking about a boon that makes it cheaper to buy something that is not legal in core but does not actually give you access to it, I am talking about that the Items on the chronicle sheet are legal to buy even if they are not in the Core books. You still will need to own the source though.

Now to address your comment if you would later get a boon that gives you access to a wayfinder that costs pp, you can use the confirmation boon to make it cheaper.

But that is what my comment was directed at.

You were not clear on that, you just said items, so I was just clearing that up so someone would not think you could not buy items from chronicle sheets that are non-core,

Fair enough. Probably a good idea to clarify, thanks.
