Monastic traditions

Hey,

Just wondering. Besides Irori, what other gods have notable monastic traditions that lend themselves to a LG character? Does a monk of Erastil make much sense?

Thanks.

Erastil, I don't really think so. He's quite focused on family life in rural villages. Monks leaving the community is a bit odd. Actually he's not huge on adventuring in general; he thinks people should try to stay home with their loved ones.

The one that comes to my mind is Korada, NG empyreal lord with the unarmed strike as favoured weapon.

While there's not going to be any monastic tradition, Monk of Shelyn would be interesting.

She's beauty, she's grace.
Her fist is in your face.

That's kind of what I thought re: Erastil. The character I've got in mind is an Ulfen from the North, I'm trying to put a coherent background together for him. Maybe he wandered a bit before he got religion (and kung fu), was exposed to a few other gods besides Old Deadeye.

I'll check out Korada, thanks!

I think it would be interesting if there was like a sub-Pantheon under Irori. Like several minor gods representing pinnacles of virtue or the tenets of asceticism or something to that effect.

Irori could be their divine inspiration and what they wished to emulate before their accession to positions as lesser deities under him.
