explosive bomb radius shape

Hi,

I was wondering how to calculate the 10 ft radius for the explosive bomb. Since a 5 ft radius is easy, all the squares that touch the square attacked. But at 10 ft, the horizontal and vertical are easy, but what for the diagonal, is it one square or two? For diagonal movement, the first square is 5 ft and the second is 10 ft for 15 ft total. So, someone can help me clarify it.

Thanks.

The second diagonal square counts as ten feet, so the squares two diagonals away are not affected

Liberty's Edge

The Magic chapter has the shapes of the AoO.
10' radius is a cross.

Edit: with bombs you target a creature, so it is 10' around that creature. The corners are 15' away so they aren't hit.

You still target a specific grid intersection when you target a creature, so it shouldn't change the area of effect pattern.

Pretty sure it's not 10' "around that creature" since for large, huge, or even larger creatures would be a pretty huge area of effect.

Thrown bombs have a range of 20 feet and use the Throw Splash Weapon special attack.

Throw Splash Weapon

A splash weapon is a ranged weapon that breaks on impact, splashing or scattering its contents over its target and nearby creatures or objects. To attack with a splash weapon, make a ranged touch attack against the target. Thrown splash weapons require no weapon proficiency, so you don't take the –4 nonproficiency penalty. èb]A hit deals direct hit damage to the target, and splash damage to all creatures within 5 feet of the target. If the target is Large or larger, you choose one of its squares and the splash damage affects creatures within 5 feet of that square.[/b] Splash weapons cannot deal precision-based damage (such as sneak attack).

Large or larger: 10 radious around the chosen square. If you hit the creature you target the whole square, not a grid intersection.

So, 10' radius around a square actually equals 25' diameter total?

And a 5' radius explosion leads to a 15' diameter area of effect once you include the square. Is that correct?

Yes, If you target a grid intersection, with normal bomb, you have a total of 4 square, so 10 ft diameter. If you target a creature, so a specific square, the splash will affect 8 square, so 15 ft diamater. But the square attacked don't have spash effect, but the explosion itself.

With 10 ft radius, you go kind of large, which is the point of having the Explosive bomb discovery, and adding the fire to the dommage.
