Stacking Archetypes

Rules Questions

Can two archetypes that modify the same class feature in the same way be stacked? As an example, Beast Rider Cavalier and Emissary Cavalier both lose heavy armor proficiency, are they stackable, even though they both modify weapon and armor proficiency?

Nope.

No.

In fact two archtypes that add two different skills as class skills won't stack either.

No. Two archetypes that modify the same class feature do not stack, no matter how they modify it.

At GM discretion if the alterations don't clash you may have a houserule to allow it.

But if they both do the same thing, absolutely not. You're essentially giving up one thing for two, which is unfair and against the rules.

Here is a FAQ clarifying the stacking issues.

If you are playing in a home game, and your GM allows 3pp, you might try the Talented Classes line from Rogue Genius Games. They basically deconstruct all the archetypes of a class (that were out at the time) and let you reconstruct them for your character however you like.

Personally, as a houserule, I occasionally allow my PCs to pick only certain abilities from certain archetypes if it is appropriate for their character.

Archetypes can't stack if they modify, alter, adjust, add, remove, enhance, expunge, extract, kiss, touch, cuddle, join, delete, or harass the same feature.

Any class feature alter like this, will block stacking. Including things like adding a skill to the class spell list.
