First time Pathfinder player

Pathfinder Society

Hello all,

First off, I apologize if this is blatantly obvious, but I'm having a little difficulty in figuring this out. This weekend at Con of the North will be my first foray into PFS, though I host a group of friends who have played different home-brew Pathfinder campaigns on-and-off for a few years now.

In my excitement to start getting into Society play, I came across adventure path books. I'm curious to know if they are suitable for Society play; I envision that my group will start playing Society at our weekly game night, so I am curious to know if these books would work, or if they would be only for non-Society play.

I found some specific books at Half-Price Books on sale pretty cheap, so I'd pick them up if we could use them for Society play.

Council of Thieves
Legacy of Fire
Serpent's Skull

Then there's also these Campaign Setting books. Any relevance to Society play?

Castles of the Inner Sea
Artifacts & Legends

Again, apologies if this is posted somewhere; I'm happy to look this up if someone can point me in the right area.

Thank you!

mega thread of what is allowed

To expand on what Chess Pwn is saying, there is a section under the Pathfinder Society called additional resources that details what is allowed and not allowed with regards to PFS.

Also include in that section of the website is chronicle sheets for AP and Modules.

I can't really help with your specific questions but hopefully this clarification will help.

Currently none of those APs are sanctioned for PFS play. They have been trying to work backwards to get the older APs sactioned, but it's been a long process.

I have not played the adventure paths, but I'll try to help. Some of the adventure paths have been dual-purposed for PFS. You have two PFS options;

You can play them as a home game and you will get credit for occasional content for you PFS character (they will get a bonus chronicle sheet). This sounds like a good option for your home group, because you can continue gaming as normal but if they decide to join PFS they have those bonus sheets available.

Or you can take your PFS character and play certain key content, or modules, from the adventure path as PFS games, gaining the earlier mentioned chronicle sheets. I have the impression this is more suited for long time PFS players that are hungry for more content.

As for the Campaign Settings books, neither of those are on the additional resources page linked by chess Pwn. So they don't contain any rules or player options that are legal for PFS play, but the fluff is interesting and will apply to the same world.

Unfortunately, neither of those campaign settings are allowed for PFS play as they are not listed on the Additional Resources either because they don't have any PFS content as they are mostly fluff or the items do not work for the campaign.

Edit: Darn, got Ninja'd.

Hey, we love new players, and you'll have a blast at Con of the North!

Drage, welcome to PFS. I know you're likely still at the con, but maybe you'll see this afterwards? After Con of the North, check out the Minnesota PFS lodge. We're one of the friendliest and most active lodges around! Just about everyone welcomes newcomers!

We should also link him to the Meetup the the PFS lodge uses to schedule all of our public events.

I hope you made it this weekend and maybe even I had a chance to meet you (I was in a green shirt and hat most of the weekend).

From the thread linked earlier, you can look to any of the links to Chronicle sheets for things that can be run PFS Style. The PDFs include instructions on the rules for doing so that you can read through.

It's also easy to miss the sidebar on the right, which links to chronicles for all of the Modules that are available for PFS credit as well.
