I used to work in radio and my favorite shift was the overnight one. No one else in the building, just me and my D&D books writing adventures.

I have to admit, if my job payed a decent living wage I think I would be happy with it for the rest of my life. Overnights are soothing on my introvert soul, and I'd likely be happy reading/writing/online gaming/streaming while I do it.

Sadly, it does not. And, comfort is a trap. I need to push myself to achieve my goals.

Gotta admit, I enjoy not only the very few people around overnight, but the lonely drive in the wee hours as well. Shame it wont pay the bills.

I only work for the money, frankly. If I didn't have to, I'd work on botanical illustration and writing all day.

And of course, if you're going to run around with clothing inverted, it's best to be alone.

I find that as well

Both the early quiet driving and the clothing.

There's something peaceful about a time when few are up. It makes me think in a previous ious life I was a hermit or something

If I had my druthers I'd just write and maybe work on some photography. I do want to travel, that's one main reason for the attempt to leap into the legal field. If all else fails maybe long-haul trucking. There's likely another 10-20 years in that field before serious automation takes over.

A very useful chart

I think I'm going to have my players find a chamber in a cave or temple complex where there is nothing but hatched Xenomorph pods. They'll never encounter anything from them, but it will scare the willies out of them.

Ooooh! Go on ... >:) *Evil grin*

Back from Star Wars session...

Our brilliant and competent rebels, who were commencing preparations for operation on Empress Teta were targeted by ISB searching for a young Imperial Fleet officer gone rogue (who happened to sleep with our pilot a few sessions ago). They were looking for our pilot because she slept with him and was in contact with him for a few days...

She hid in the hidden compartment of our Ghtroc but the scanning team found here so we had to kill/throw them off the board and flee the hangar...

We managed to learn that the young and foolish Casanova stole an experimental, hyperdrive-capable scout fighter... With an even more experimental cloaking device...

Oh great, now we have to take the fighter to Aldeeran (thanks the Force for the hyperdrive installed) but also not get killed by Imperium and still be able to complete our mission. All of that because our pilot roled a Triumph on her Charm test when seducing the young and foolish imperial officer.

The name of that planet has always made me smile.

You see, translated to spanish, it means "Empress Boob".

Eh? What's this now?!?

For me the best one was when they had to change the name for kagonesti elves in Spanish because "cagón" is both a person who poops a lot and a coward.
So kagonesti elves would be something like poop-a-lot-esti elves xD

Silver Crusade

That explains things...

Like our (attractive, female, green) pilot getting to bed with a young Imperial officer the day we arrived on the planet...

And yes, our courageous party is willing to serve the Rebellion in all situations and positions1

hi everyone,

at the moment I have difficulties loading paizo.com, it freezes most of the times

I hope everyone is well and kicking

Alive, not kicking much. Without going into it, today has not been a good one. Just a lot of stupid stuff.

I guess they have not quite gotten the kinks out.

I had a helluva time from late last Wednesday till yesterday afternoon getting to the site.

Plus work has been crazy lately but I am hoping it slows down a bit after today/next Monday when the Appeal I am working on (just oput the docs in the mail YAY) and the separate Appeals Conference are over.

Makes a certain amount of sense, given that the character who gave her name to the star system has her origins in early '90s comics...

I STILL haven't gotten mine quite right, and I've used it over 20 years in 3 major job searches. ;P

Scarab Sages

Is it possible to ever get them "right"? I'm not so sure anymore.

Yeah, you know that you got your resume right when they hire.

The problem is that a lot of employers don't know what the right resume is, either.

I'll second that.

I am happy enough with mine but I have not updated it in a couple of years.

The problem is no one Resume will please everyone who comes across it and unless you have insider knowledge its hard to now exactly what a HR Manager or Recruiter, etc. is looking for. Then you have to craft your Resume to be something entirely different than what it may have been, unless you are lucky.

By way of example, I was on the Moot Court team in my Law School. In the first round of a Securities Law competition I gave an answer that blew the "Judges" away. They thought it was the most brilliant thing they heard all day. It probably sealed the victory for my team. In the next round on the next day I made the exact same argument damn near word for word. The "Judges" thought it was the most ridiculous thing they ever heard and it probably lost the round for us. << Shadow shrugs even with no definable body parts >> what can you do?

Another thought about job hunting. It's really just about getting in front of someone. I have probably had 10 in person interviews and gotten hired 8 out of 10 times. I've sent HUNDREDS of Resumes out though. Getting a face to face is the real battle, if one is personable they can usually seal the deal its just getting that damn sit down that's hard!

Patrick Curtin wrote:

Long nights, hard times, everything that makes you feel tired.

*sigh*

Stellaris is a great game but it would be even better if it hadn't freeze on me from time to time, forcing me to kill it with fire (or Alt + F4).
