Ah , just saw a reply so it looks like things are getting a little better at least ;-)

Hey TreeForters, anyone interested in a Vampire the Dark Ages game? I have an opening for a Ventrue.

hi everyone

Yes please go see a doctor John. Incidents like that can often be a precursor to more serious events.
Indeed. Mini-strokes are what ultimately lead to my father's demise.

yes, go to a doctor, the faster the better

Cal, it sounds like what you had was an allergic reaction. The injections were probably Epinephrine.

Quite possibly. The only memory I have of the incident was fainting in the bathroom and my mom finding me lying on the floor, then series of injections.

Okay, guys. I'm in the hospital, and have been assigned a room after spending the entire day in the ER. I've got good news, bad news, and semi-good news. The good news is that I didn't have a mini-stroke, although I am at risk due to high blood pressure. The bad news is that my vision problem is from a pituitary tumor of some sort that is putting pressure on the nerves behind my right eye. The semi-good news it that the tumor doesn't appear to be malignant, and cen probably be treated without surgery.

Oi. Well, at least the semi-good news is favorable. Good luck!

Thanks, Ed.

Well, not optimal, but I'm glad you discovered the actual cause and it can be dealt with without too much disruption

Thanks, Patrick.

So, now I find out that I also have Diabetis. Thank you, family history, for this wonderful little gift.

John- Glad to hear it WASN'T a stroke, good luck with your treatments. :)

As Monkey said, hoping and praying for your recovery in the fastest and least-disruptive manner possible!

OK, So Paizo has been having troubles? I haven't gotten on at all last week, no time at home, and I presumed that work was blocking the site for some reason. Although that had not happened in the past 10 years here. :P

Guess I'll take a swing by the ol' PbP's and see if I can catch up! :)

There will likely be surgery. Preliminary plans are to do the surgery through the Sinus Cavity. What's left will be treated with radiation and chemo.

And now, I've learned that the insurance provided by my employer is inadequate. It's only for Dental and Vision, and doesn't cover Hospital visits. Seriously considering "jumping ship." Or training for a different career entirely. I am so disappointed.

Day off (Corpus Christi is a statutory holiday here)... I feel like it was a Sunday evening.

I will need to go to bed soon. Tomorrow back to work. At least the weekend is soon.

I spend the whole day playing computer games...

Sorry to hear that John.
Even having insurance is not as good as it used to be unfortunately. :/

Will continue to pray for your recovery.
(Healthfully and financially!) :)

I'm so sorry, John. It's bad enough dealing with health issues without doing the massive research project that is figuring out insurance nowadays.

My insurance got changed and I can't get my BP pills until I figure out what is going on. All I remember getting in the mail are loads and loads of huge books but no instructions and no new card. (Fortunately, I stockpiled my old meds so have a couple of weeks emergency supply.)

Sending positive vibes your way, man.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, John. All positive feelings going to you and hope you find a way to get this fixed.

...man, are you guys making me glad I'm Canadian.

:(

Thanks Treppa, Feros. I'll take all the positive feelings that anyone cares to send my way. :)

Positive waves, John!

I've been avoiding the boards for the most part until they are reliable again. Let's see if this lasts!

Wait, they have no core medical? Is this a small business? If they have over 25 employees that is not legal.

Or are you part time?

Business trip to Las Vegas has been a success. Today I won over $1,000 at the casinos.

Also, I'm pretty sure I was solicited by a prostitute on the floor of the Excalibur casino. Man, was she ever barking up the wrong tree.

It was fine. I did the right thing in cutting a number, as my endurance is not what it would be otherwise. Two of our best singers weren't in this concert, so I came out looking like the star, cold and all.

The concert tonight is more singing, but the solo work is easier.

Did I mention I f%+~ing slayed that second concert, cold and all? I made a bunch of middle aged women cry with my Robert Goulet-inspired rendition of "If Ever I Would Leave You". F&~# yeah.

The congestion actually made those low notes more sonorous.

Sounds great CH! Nice work.

Sorry to hear about your troubles John. I kind of know how you feel - last time I went to the doc just feeling a bit off, turned out I had serious heart problems that required surgery. We have good public medical cover here fortunately.

Yeah, I was barely able to get onto the site last weekend and early this week, pretty much gave up for the rest of the week. It seems to be under control now.

Yeah it seems a bit more stable now. I reallly need to update the PbPs, but of course tonight there is much shenaniganz going on, and I can't get a decent period of sit-down time at the comp

I don't know. When my ordeal is over, I'm going to have a little talk with the HR secretary. And, if I don't receive a satisfactory answer, I'm walking. It's sad to have to end a twenty-year security career, but I'll do what's necessary. I'm so very disappointed in them right now.

Spoiler:
I work for U.S. Security Associates. I'm assigned 39 hours a week, and was given assurances that I was full-time. If it turns out that I was lied to, then my "Notice to Quit" will bee immediate instead of taking two weeks. Being lied to by people that supervise me will make me very angry. Sorry for the length of this spoiler.

I recall years ago, my mom dropped my oldest brother off at the airport for a very early morning flight, then she stopped at the casino on a whim for some slot machine action.

Then it was 0730 and I was being woken up by my excited mother to tell me she had just won $1000.

I have never been solicited by a prostitute, but I did manage to stealth mode past a trio of them several years ago.

Big meeting with a client scheduled three weeks in advance for today. Two hours before meeting, client cancels and asks to reschedule for a day I specifically told them I couldn't do. I guess "paying attention" is something they stopped teaching in grade school a couple years after I came up through. Now, since I cleared my schedule for the day and postponed a big side job for the meeting, I guess I'll just go and sit on my ass doing nothing until I have to go to work tomorrow.

Sit on your ass, and charge the client your normal hourly rate for that time.

Update: 3 hours after canceling, client calls me and asks if they can meet with me in 15 minutes. Ended up having the meeting after all, and it was productive, but the whole thing was still very stressful.
