That and checking doors and turning lights off is a pretty mellow job. Definitely a lot less stressful than having an alcoholic promise to track you down and kill you.Until it becomes the setting for Stranger Things 2 and you have to deal with a demogorgon on the loose.

He'd probably try to bite her. He was pretty much a jerk to other dogs and ridiculously protective of me for no good reason. He wasn't real smart, either, but had a peculiar low cunning that enabled him to do things like decoy his sister away from her food so he could eat it. He sprawled all over the hallway and refused to move, making himself a dangerous obstacle course (particularly at night). He did tricks reluctantly and only if food was readily available. I couldn't take him out to the dog park and have a relaxing chat with other dog parents because he'd be trying to eat their dogs. He'd guard the water dish all damned day so his sister couldn't get a drink. Total jerk.
I miss the dumb mutt already.

That's OK. Noelle was a rescue from a puppy mill. She was a total mom, and she brooked no nonsense from other dogs. One of my nicknames for her was 'Jailhouse Sally' because she would take on and cow dogs much bigger and younger than her with a Margaret-Thatcherian Iron paw.

Something going on today, it sounds like. I just talked to my mom and she had to have her cat put to sleep today. Five years ago my mom left her husband (finally) and lived alone for the first time in 60 years on this earth. But she took the cat with her and she had company. I know this is hitting her hard.

CH, you could get your Mom a boyfriend, but I have heard that they are more hassle than they are worth. Sorry to hear about your Mom loosing her cat. I feel her pain.

So, a long day going to Boston, now back at work tonight. I'm on the overnight, then I am volunteering with the farm animals I had worked with in August tomorrow 9-7. They are supposedly doing much better, and are being shipped to their foster homes. It's nice that they will be able to live out their lives in retirement, rather than suffering then ending up slaughtered for food.
Although I enjoy volunteering, I kind of wish I hadn't. I'm feeling very stretched thin, and there isn't much by way of time off this week. As it is, I won't be home until 8 pm, then back to work at midnight, then off to school on Thursday. Then midnight Friday, then 2pm Friday for the hospital.
I'm worried about one of my dogs. I am beginning to think he is having a psychological issue. My dad has been helping me with getting them bathroom breaks since I am out of the house a lot more now, but since I began my new schedule my dog Icky has been going to the bathroom inside constantly. I don't see any reason for it except that we aren't getting as much play time as before. It's very disheartening to come home to a big mess like that every morning. Sadly dogs can't just tell you what's bothering them.
If it's urine, it could be a UTI. Dogs that can't void their bladder often enough can get infections that make them need to urinate frequently, urgently, and uncontrollably.
If it's other stuff, I dunno.

I hope that your dog gets better soon. Some dogs need more attention than others. You might try leaving the TV on when you leave. I usually leave it on the Animal Planet channel. Or a radio if you do not have a TV.

Yeah I might try that. I do wish I still had a fenced in yard and a doggie door for them. It was a lot easier when they had outside access

It's the other stuff. I'm going to switch up their feeding schedule and see if that might help. Although I find it very coincedental that this has been occurring since I took on the extra workload.

That sucks. I don't know what I'd do if my Wilbur passed. He's been sleeping between my legs for ten years. I'd be totally lost without him.
We should have called our 15 pound dachshund puppy "Peanut". Why? Because he likes to be roasted. I swear that he wants to be as warm as possible.

Sorry for your mom's loss. I know being on her own like this can be rough. Since my dad passed a few years back, my mom has been in much the same situation - on her own for the first time in decades. It can be rough, but with family and friends to help, it'll all be good.

While reporting my dog's death to the adoption agency that placed him with us, they mentioned the name of the malady he had: hemangiosarcoma. It's common in larger dogs. I looked it up in several places online and it sounds fast and deadly.
Knowing more makes me feel better. He wasn't having a lot of trouble until it started fairly suddenly, and they don't last long once symptoms become obvious. There wasn't anything I could have done to prevent it or check for it in advance. The only bad thing was its emergence just as I was undergoing surgery, but I don't think the timing would have changed at all. He was having a lot of good days when I was home recuperating; it didn't get mostly bad until just before I took him in for the last time. So... nothing else could really have been done.
I feel better knowing this.

Sadly, no. No truck to transport, and some of these animals have been ill. I wouldn't want to take the risk of importing anything bacterially nasty to my garden.
There's a horse farm right down the road from my house. I'll likely get some manure there when I have a chance to put my gardens to bed

It is fun to see how differently (and how the same) she played compared to my first time through.
- Her reaction to Kaiden is priceless.
- She clearly was more offended by Asari than I was.
- She had the same reaction to the Geth bombs on Eden as I did though... I swear I spent SO much time panicking over the bomb timer that I failed to realize just how easy they were to find and only disarmed the last one with mere seconds to spare.
- She was WAY more irritated by cut scenes than I was.
- I actually liked the backstory and didn't sleep through it.
