Spiritualist archer for Reign of Winter

Advice

Dark Archive

Hi, buddies!

I'll start to play the AP Reign of Winter and I want to make a snowcaster elf spiritualist, focused on archery. His wife was killed by a witch and with the help of her spirit, he starts a hunting to kill all the witches that cross his path, untill he finds that who killed his wife, and maybe her soul could rest in peace.

I want him to be an archer and use a phantom as a bodyguard. Can somebody help to build it? Any suggestions about the stats, feats/traits and spells too?

Thank you for the attention! :)

I'm going to be deadly blunt here. You will want precise shot immediately. You will not have fun with weather in this game and the cumulative penalties will drive you insane.

A: Check out the lust emotional focus from Occult Realms. It's mechanically perfect.

B: Book 1 sucks for ranged characters. Real bad. Precise Shot is necessary... but even still, get used to crushing failure. It will pass in time, but you will despair ere that day comes.

Thank you for the advice!

And what about stats, feats/traits and spells? Any suggestions?

Nothing? :/

I don't think a lot of people are that invested in the Spiritualist yet.
I'm DMing Reign of Winter atm, I can't really find anything about the Spiritualist that is exceptionally a must-have or an obviously better option than others.

Ability scores: high Dex and Wis, mid Str, at least 10 Con, do what you want with Int and Cha.
Feats: pick up the standard ranged feats, if that's what you want to do.
Traits: Up to you, they're flavour, not min-max material (or that's at least what I use them as).
Spells: Detect Magic, Light and Read Magic (should always have). CLW, Endure Elements, Feather Fall, Protect from Evil, Obscuring Mist and Sanctuary.

Yeah I have no interest in occult classes. I can not help you past what I've given you. Sorry.

Archery itself is a fairly standard feat path: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, and Multishot when you can pick it up. Improved Precise Shot is a long way's out but your life will become much easier when you get it. Weapon Focus will help, since you're a 3/4 BAB class without an abundance of martial prowess baked into your class features.

Not 100% sure what type of Phantom to use. I thiiiiink Zeal has some general combat buffing built in? I'll have to look into it. Since you'll be firing arrows a lot,it might be better for the Phantom to operate as a skill-user or a bodyguard more than a front line combatant. Improved Precise Shot is super lategame for you so you'll want to minimize things that can block your shots. Talk with your fellow players to adjust tactics accordingly.

Consider worshipping Erastil. His Deadeye Bowman trait from the Inner Sea Gods book gives you a HUGE advantage for archery that will help compensate for you not having a full base attack bonus.
