5 foot steps

Rules Questions

Can you take 2 five foot steps in a round? This is assuming you sacrifice your standard action for a move.

No. The combat section of the core rulebook says,

"Take 5-Foot Step

You can move 5 feet in any round when you don't perform any other kind of movement. Taking this 5-foot step never provokes an attack of opportunity. You can't take more than one 5-foot step in a round, and you can't take a 5-foot step in the same round that you move any distance."

Thanks. Seems simple I guess I need to search harder next time. Thanks again!

Remember that 5ft steps do not expend your move action, as it's not a move action (but you can't spend your move action to move any distance, only other kinds of move actions are allowed). I'm noting this because swapping your standard action for a move action, as you mentioned, isn't connected to 5ft stepping.

You could, in theory take two 5ft move actions, but they would not be "5 ft steps" and thus both would provoke.

there's a new feat, outslug style that lets you move 10ft on a 5ft step.

There's also improved sidestep and following step, which have passing relevance :)
