if I take my first level of gunslinger at level 2 do I get the gun for free?

Yup. Same for any class that gives you free stuff at first level, such as a Wizard gaining their spellbook.

Too bad animal companions didn't stack or what your asking would be easy. Although the build your thinking of is called Gold-digger or Trophy Wife depending on who you ask.

In a sense, all my builds are entirely designed to get as much free stuff as possible.
