Do armor spikes count as being wielded?

Rules Questions

For example, would the Menacing special property work if I put it on my +1 armor spikes or no? The ability works when the weapon is wielded but do armor spikes count as being wielded?

I say if the armor spikes are the weapon that you're using to provide flanking with it'd work.

There is no one answer. Developers have commented in the past that the definition of wield is different based on the ability using it.

Some abilities require you to be making an attack when wielding.

Some abilities require you to be able to make an attack when wielding.

Some abilities require the item to be held (wielded) and have not need for an attack.

So ultimately, ask your GM.

If I were your GM, and you could make an attack with the Armor Spikes, I'd say you are wielding them. But if you never attack with them, and only use them to gain the +1 Menacing property. Then I'd ask you to move that property to your main weapon and pay the proper cost.

Yes, armor spikes are considered wielded when the armor they are attached to is worn. However, most weapon properties are USE-ACTIVATED. Simply being held (or in the case of armor spikes, worn) is not enough to activate the magic. Compare with the FAQ on the Defending property. Then ask your GM.
