A skald's raging song gives morale bonuses which do nothing RAW and a -1 AC which does, but the actual rage powers given out aren't usually morale bonuses.
Haste, Mage Armor, and a bunch of non-mind affecting spells should affect a shadow just fine.
Is there any particular way you wanted to buff the shadow?

Specifically the damage. It hits easy enough using the PCs BAB with touch attacks.
I thought of haste too earlier that is a good to bring up.

Polymorph effects work just fine on undead, don't they? But I'm not sure which one you could cast on them.
otherwise Haste is realy the best option, 2d6 STR dpr is really painful.
awesomely, you can cast Bestow Grace of the Champion on your Shadow if you're LG. Not only can it now Smite Evil, but also
It can use spell completion, spell trigger, or other magic items that require the ability to cast spells as a paladin
It can now use a Wand of Divine Favor or Scrolls of Eaglesoul and Greater Angelic Aspect.
Paladin is not the worst entry for Shadowdancer anyways...

since smite evil is a modifier onthe damage would that mean the shadow smiting would deal STR damage?

Rage boni for the Undead are an exception.
page 241 of the Monster Codex:
Quote:
Undead Barbarian: An undead creature with the ability to enter a rage gains the morale bonuses from rage despite being immune to morale effects. The bonus to Constitution from the rage applies to an undead creature's Charisma instead.

@Guru: I'd heard that and forgotten it! Not that it's exactly what was wanted this time since str - means that bonus is wasted, and the charisma bonus doesn't add to what finlanderboy is wanting.
Inspire Courage would give it's bonuses to hit, as those are competence bonuses, not morale.
It's also mind affecting so no go.

Threnodic Spell feat bypasses the problem with mind-affecting spells. Unfortunately it is difficult to combine a pet shadow with practical spellcasting capability, especially when Threnodic Spell increases the spell level by +2. Metamagic rod?
Improving the critical range of the shadow might work, but I have no idea how to accomplish that. Most critical-enhancement spells specifically do not work on natural weapons.

Well, it would boost HP, but what good is a +2 to STR for a Shadow?

Ectoplasmic spell seems like a must otherwise any magical (spell) buff only ever has a 50% chance of working. I don't see any reason that the usual +4 to one stat spells (Cat's Grace, Eagle's Splendor) wouldn't work on an undead. They are transmutation effects, allow a will save and give enhancement bonuses all of which undead and incorporeal creatures can be affected by based on reading their traits under the universal monster listings. Mage armor is a force effect and only has the restriction of "Creature touched", same as the aforementioned stat boost spells.

Nothing. Incorporeal creatures lack a strength score. Giving it rage is really not a functional buff.
Cat's grace would help its to-hit, as would Threnodic bless, heroism, etc.
Ablative Barrier would give effective DR 5/- because it is immune to nonlethal damage.
Haste and blessing of Fervor would work, as would mage armor, Shield of faith, and the like.
If you can convince your GM to let the shadow eat and drink somehow, hero's feast would work.
