I know this is really far off and just speculation, but I think it's a cool idea.
I'd hate for Hal Jordan to be shelved because some idiots forced Ryan Reynolds to make a crappy movie with a horrible script.
It would be cool if they could get him back and get Idris Elba for Stewart.
I'm not a fan of Guy Gardner for some reason.

I don't think anyone held a gun to Reynolds head.
The movie was awful and was tangentially responsible for the death of young justice.
It's going to taint any green lantern movie coming to the big screen for a long time. It needs a reboot, not a sequel.

It was responsible for the death of young justice? Damn. And here I thought it was just a crappy movie. Now it's an abomination.

Yeah, I'd like a little clarification on that. My understanding was a lot of what contributed to Young Justice getting the axe was low toy and other merch sales. Apparently the "cartoons as toy commercials" description was pretty apt as far as where Cartoon Network's expectations were for the show.

The story as it was told to me:
DC (possibly more than marvel) links a lot of projects to toy sales. While low toy sales was bad for the series, don't get me wrong, there was a lot of hope that the green lantern movie profits- that apparently the entire company sees money from- would buffet the poor toy sales and there would be at least one more season. As we all know, the movie was awful, and despite attempts by people working on the show to distance themselves from the movie(toy sales were bad but they weren't as awful as the movie sales were) they all got flushed down the same toilet.

The story could have been better, but it wasn't so bad that the movie was horrible. I've never understood the criticism, and probably never will. I purchased the Blu-ray, and it sits in a place of honor with my other superhero films.

That reads more as "failed to save it" than "killed it."

Well it doesn't help that the YJ toys sucked....
Not much posability, and looked poorly made. But hey they got rid of YJ and we got Teeny titans!
My GL is John Stewart, so I'd like to see him and/or Guy get a shot at the big screen. (Or David Ramsey get a ring on Arrow. :-)
yea?
Nay (sorry, Jordan or nothing. Diggle is his own thing.)

It certainly kill the GL CG cartoon which was actually pretty damn good. As I understand it stores got burned on the Movie GL toys that most of them refused to even stock the cartoon GL toys.
Cartoon that can't even get the toys into the store, Big ol' Axe

For me, yeah.
I haven't followed it closely, but it all seemed needlessly complicated. And a weird thing to pull out after something like 40 years of their just being Green lanterns.

I like the other corps, but they do need help in being fleshed out better. I really like the red lantern corps far more than I probably should, as well as the star sapphire corps. I enjoyed the religious take of the blue corps, too.
Johns needs strong handlers and good editing.

Johns can write some really amazing stuff, but, like Grant Morrison, can often take a trip into WTF?Land if not watched. His JSA run was incredible.

I liked the movie, but they made enough changed to annoy GL fans, not enough to make the Oans approachable, and Parallax was too much a force of nature instead of a real enemy.
I also hated that the Oans were the one that created the yellow ring for Sinestro.
As for the casting, I though it was great. Sinestro and Hal were spot on. It's the script that was awful.
It should have been Hal fining the ring and learning to be a hero on earth, and the entire GL corps should not have happened until a sequel.

I also liked the movie and was entertained by it, just hated the whole paralax thing. I was okay with the Hal being trained by the corps. It happened it the comics (pre-GJ). I think it was several years before they did that, but I didn't start reading until the late 1980's so I could be wrong. I am just remembering what was said in character in the comics.
(Which by the way keeps getting retroactively changed all the time.)| MMCJawa |

I agree with that assessment...they just crammed far far too much into the first movie.
Given that the DC rumors are for a movie with all 3 of the major lanterns....I am a bit nervous they are going to go ahead and repeat the same mistake again with whatever is the next movie

I chuckled when I heard it because it meant all the Lanterns, except Kyle, were made mention of.

Isn't there another beyond those what many think though...pretty certain there is another...
Leia...NOOOO...
It's Guy Gardner! The resident bad boy GL!
Except...that Guy Gardner is an off again on again GL...and now is an RL (Red Lantern...right?)
So in that light, if they have three GL's, I would expect they'd included Kyle before Guy.

What's the record for number of rings worn? Because Guy's done Green, Yellow and now, apparently, Red.
