Season 4 is supposed to mostly adapt James S. A. Corey's Cibola Burn, the fourth novel of the The Expanse novel series. Season 4 starts December 13th, 2019 on Amazon Video.

I know a lot of people are complaining about weekly releases lately, but I love them. I never watch as fast as many who binge the whole season in a weekend, and now I won't have to try my best to avoid spoilers. Plus like the anticipation of what happens next a lot more this way.
I dont mind weekly releases but I wish we got more than 8 episode seasons.
THE EXPANSE does 10 episode seasons, as this season is.
Apparently Amazon suggested 8, but the guys at Alcon thought that was bizarre (having been doing 13-episode seasons for SyFy) and said 10 was fine given the budget they had. One of the benefits starting on a relatively tight budget for a network channel and then moving up to streaming is that you know how to spend money more efficiently.

Season 5 started out incredible, I love this show. Back half feels like a lot of wheel spinning to push it out to 10 episodes. What I liked about prior seasons was two part arcs. That seems to have been abandoned in the Amazon age.
Also, sad to hear about actor Cas Anvar (pilot Alex). Seems some off set behavior got the actor and character kicked from the final season.

So this, sorta ended. I feel like it needed at least another six episodes, if not an entire 'nother season to properly wrap up the developing storylines involving Laconia, but instead the Laconia elements, IMO, just ended up stealing time away from the Belter Nation/Inaros storyline (which, since the Laconia storyline wasn't really able to be developed in the time they had left, perhaps could have been abandoned entirely and pivoted to some Belter use of the stolen protomolecule?) Eh. Felt like a missed opportunity to me.
But that last episode had a fun bit, with a list of names of members of a strike team that included W. Riker, G. Akbar, E. Ripley, J. Rico, J. O'Neil, K. Thrace, R. Dekard, etc. Cute shout out for sci-fi geeks.

I'm pretty sure they're still hoping/working for a way to have the last 3 books make it to TV. So they wanted to continue the proto molecule story to show it's still out there.

Considering there's a 30 year time jump and the popularity for bringing back shows after a while, they might have a chance to do books 7-9 in 10-20 years, who knows?

Yeah, I certainly thought about that. There were some Easter eggs dropped in the final season that makes me think the authors were rethinking the 30 year time jump. I believe they were going to do a 5 year jump so they could continue with the actors as is. Guess we shall see.

I recently found out about this show from a Critical Drinker video. I was kind of aware it existed, but had never watched it or read the books.
Kind of sad I missed out on it earlier, as it’s been really good. I’m considering reading the books eventually, but hope they find a way to continue the show.
