Permanent Darkness

What options are there for creating magical darkness that lasts or is permanent?

When it comes to creating permanent light sources, there seems to be plenty of ways of doing it but darkness not so much.


Umbral Spell + Heighten Spell + Arcane Mark


Ooh, that's nice. I had an idea for a character who has a glass eye with Permanent Darkness cast on it and covers it with an eyepatch, so he could just remove the eyepatch if he needs handy darkness, but this is a far less expensive solution. This would do nicely, since it can be replaced easily if dispelled.


the Darkness is not soooo great as people think it is.

"This darkness causes the illumination level in the area to drop one step, from bright light to normal light, from normal light to dim light, or from dim light to darkness. "

in bright daylight your Glass Eye of Darkness would change it only to normal light , in thick forest area it will change it to dim light

truly useful only when you're in area with only Dim light allrdy
Example:
Cave (no light)
Night time
and some buildings

and at night time it will be easy to spot a Moving True Darkness with 10 ft radius

not as usefull as you think it is

Can be useful for those with light vulnerability.


The way I did it in the past was Hallowed + Deeper Darkness not permanent but ...


Deeper Darkness gets you at least dim light in any case except high-level light magic. And it's duration is long enough that an extended version can last a good while. I recommend casting it in the wick of a hooded lantern and making a cone out of it.
