Hello! I'm a newer GM looking for a small group of players to join in on and suggest a setting for my custom Pathfinder campaign! I have some rules that I'll list below but first I just want everyone to know that this is a good, play-by-post campaign, with a little homebrew, but allowing pretty much every book and class allowed by PFS, without the various restrictions. I am hoping for around three to four players, but no more, as I feel that it would both be easier to keep track of for me and closer in terms of relationships for you guys. Anyway, here are the basic rules:
1. I don't allow Chaotic Neutral unless you give a very good backstory.
2. I am very strict on Paladin and Cleric 'Falls' so stick to your alignment. =P
3. I only allow core races and Tengu.
4. Please no extreme refining on characters (Following guides exactly)
5. 25 Point-Buy
6. When you post, post the class you plan on playing. Not everyone will be accepted, so don't base your answer off of other posts, just play what you like :)
7. Please no edgy, inner battle characters. The world will be dark. You should not be.
8. If you have any suggestions for rules, think I'm being too general or too strict with rules, or just have suggestions in general, include 'em in your post.
9. I may occasionally use custom spells for my spellcasters. This is likely for flavor, and I usually won't use them in combat to completely TPK.
10. If your character dies, you will get a PM from me. You will know what to do then.
11. Please post very often. With such a small group, I don't want to wait a full day for one player. Let us know in discussion if you will be gone for a long period of time.
12. We will start at level 1, 3, 7 or 13. In your post, please say what you would prefer. Do not start building characters until I decide on the level we'll start at.
13. This is Open-Worldish, but there is a clear threat that will level up in power with or without your intervention. We will start whenever everyone is ready, including me. I will be talking with everyone in discussion long before the game starts, but expect it in the next week. Also, have fun!

I am interested... I'd vastly prefer 7 or three, as one is just silly and by 13 battle posts get annoyingly long.
I like fast frontline characters, and I may take you up on that Tengu allowance.
As for rule suggestions, I've had a lot of success with the Background skills system from Unchained, and also the four classes from Unchained are pretty great. In fact I've been thinking of creating an unchained Rogue. I look forward to seeing how this develops!

I am really interested and like Ace Matthews prefer 3 or 7.
My choice of character mostly depends on the game, since my balance of Roleplay/Char optimization is kind of 80/20. I love interesting characters. I have a preference with chars that could assume the "leadership" of the party, specially in PBP, so I can constantly 'push' the action.
My work schedule is pretty flexible, so posting 3-4 times a day is not a problem.
Again, like Ace Matthews, the Background skills are great by adding a lot of flavor to more restrict classes.

Alright! Looked through the background skills section and it is definitely interesting. The unchained classes are allowed, btw. However, the campaign will likely reach at least level 15, hopefully longer, so the battle posting will get that long eventually. If anyone else suggests level 7 then that may be where we start. I much prefer roleplay to combat, but you are adventurers, so there will still be some fighting. Thanks for the input so far!

The major difference between starting at 13 and reaching 15 or more is that when we are already invested in our chars, we 'tolerate' longer combats, but if since the start the fights take too long there is Always the chance for some players to drop out. (Just my opinion!)
Oh and I completely approve your races selection... most of the games I am seeing looks more like a zoo, or Star Wars, than the classic adventures that I love!

I really wanted to play a Catfolk MagusOracle is there anyway you can make an exception?
Male
Magus(Staff) 7, Monk(Weapons Adept or flowing) 2
Minimum 9 Lv
Maximum 12 Lv
Human, Elf, or Half-Elf
Unfortunately not. Also, the level is likely going to be 3, 7, or 13, so the minimum/maximum level thing wouldn't work. You can start the build at level 7 as a core race, or as a Tengu. There are very few playable intelligent races, and the most common races are human, elf, and dwarf.

Will any 3pp be allowed?
I'd be down to make something at 7.
A few spells are, but not much else. You cannot start with any 3pp spells but if you somehow learn of one as someone who prepares spells, you could cast it. I'll let you know if you can learn certain spells that other spellcasters cast. So the game will likely be at level 7, which is great. Let me know if you decide on a class. Thanks!

Also, please read.
Forgot one thing. Gunslingers are okay as long as they use the Bolt Ace archetype, but guns do not exist commonly. They exist, but they are incredibly rare. As well, there is very little steampunk in the setting. Thus, clockwork and other similar constructs are disallowed. Anyway, that is all.

Forgot to suggest the scenarios… If you intend to run the campaign in the Inner Seas, each country provides great campaign material, like:
The Lands of the Linnorm Kings – for a Viking/Nordic themed campaign;
Tian-Xia – for a feudal oriental themed campaign;
The worldwound – for a “Diablo” style;
Personally, a Vikings campaign would be awesome. The book The Lands of the Linnorm Kings has some awesome stuff as well as some reputation systems that works perfectly for the theme…

I'm not going to be using the Inner Sea setting. I may keep the gods, but the lands won't be like that. I could set it in an icy land, but having the PCs as vikings doesn't fit my basic idea. I'd prefer a feudal, medeival europe style setting, but the entire setting hasn't been determined yet.

I love custom campaigns! Nothing like home brew for creativity. Now... Could you tell us a little more on what's the theme is going to be?
I like playing Paladins and Bloodragers :) I would probably go for one of those classes, using Human, Half-Elf or Half-Orc.
The overall, general theme is a large feudal island chain with multiple kingdoms and such. You can actually suggest to me some ideas that you'd like to see in the setting as well! Also, races other than human, dwarf, and elf are uncommon, and the public's opinion on half breeds aren't too great. Orcs are hated, but they aren't unintelligent, so they still have some respect from most kingdoms. There are also a few custom races, but they won't be playable due to their extreme xenophobia. Anyway, I'd love a paladin or bloodrager! A good frontline in small groups is very important, more so than even support classes. We can buff out the backgrounds for characters once I've accepted our four members.

My suggestion: a world with very low magic, with an overall population that is aware of magic but doesn't like it, and the group would be monster hunters for hire (or for other reasons; maybe something in the line of witch hunters or Van Helsing).
Maybe this same thing could be expanded to something like angels x demons, with the eternal war being brought to Golarion and the PCs traveling around to save Humanity from both sides.

Always interested in a homebrew game. What do you think of a weapon based druid? Planning on using a wand of flame blade as my main weapon and either taking the magic or healing domain. I would also like to start at level 7.
This build would also depend on starting/incoming gold since each wand would cost 4,500. Overall costs 2,250 and 4.5 days to make if using the feat.
P.S. I really like the monster hunter idea.

A chance to play a bit higher level, and an (hopefully) interesting custom setting is certainly something that piques my interest. Ill admit, the "new GM" tag has me a bit apprehensive, seeing as my track record with those isnt too great. Still, usually worth it just for the chance of a great game.
Im not really sure what I would play. I tend to look at what everyone else wants and then pick something to round out the group. If the group composition doesnt end up mattering too much, im leaning more towards something like a melee ranger with competent archery (focused on melee, but taking archery style for crucial shooting feats)

Ace Matthews, you've been accepted. Please check for a PM soon. If you do not get back to me I will pick someone else, as lots of people are applying.
This applies to all of you if you are accepted. So far, this is the setting:The kingdoms of Lannithir are Istorija, Lamira, Belangè, The Northern Tribes, The Kingdom of Evergreen, and The Fog. Istorija is known as the haven, free from most racial segregation, and lacking slavery of any kind. Religious groups often call this their home, and the kingdom is extremely large. It is ruled by a council of 20, and the rules are strict. However, the death penalty is only issued for murderers. The capital of Istorija is Uostas, near the center of the continent. Thus, it is the center of land trade, and most guards are focused on checking immigrants and refugees, rather than enforcing the laws.
The Northern Tribes are just that, tribes. There is very little consistency among the villages, and most races can be found, including the steam legions of the orcs near the coast.
The Fog is the kingdom located on the smaller continent to the East, and is home to mainly humans. However, The Fog contains the largest amount of elves and tengu outside of the Evergreen, and all of them have been brought there as slaves. The Fog endures dwarves and orcs, but will promptly capture any free elves and tengu that are found. Their rules are mostly lenient, and the death penalty is reserved for runaways and those who aid them. It is a monarchy, but it is mainly a title, as multiple lords make most of the decisions.
The Kingdom of the Evergreen is home to many of the intelligent races bonded closer to nature. Slavery is not practiced here, but humans, dwarves, and orcs, as well as other races of steel, are not allowed to enter their borders. The races occasionally squabble, but they are mostly peaceful. The elves live in cities similar to humans, but usually have much more green, and most cities have no roads, instead being houses connected by streams or grass. In the center of most cities are large trees, worshiped by many elven religions. The elven society has a council of 500 to make large decisions, but doesn't need much else. Tengu often live in these trees, or inside of the elven cities as citizens. The halflings and gnomes usually live within the Evergreen, but can also be found in Istorija or even the Northern Tribes.
The last of the surface kingdoms that most know about is Lamira. Lamira is seen as the slave capital, as it has enslaved elves, tengu, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, and even humans that have broken laws. Its rules are strict and heavily enforced on the poor. It is also the arcane epicenter, with several cities ruled over by noble wizards and sorcerers. It is a monarchy, but most cities also employ lords with more power than usual.
Belangè is a kingdom of nightmares, so you have been told. Their borders are consistently enforced by gigantic walls, with no gates. Large adamantine golems stand every 100 feet, and piles of bones form a small hill surrounding the wall. The golems attack anything and everything that they can see. Or so you have been told.

I'd like to throw in an application here if it's not too late. GM, the setting looks awesome so well done with the detail! I like the sound of 7th level, I'd be looking at an Arcane Archer. He'd probably be a soldier from the kingdom of evergreen, perhaps even an emissary depending on the campaign intro.

How does the world treat Lycanthropes? I have a werewolf character I have been really hoping to continue playing since the Kingmaker game she was in died. I don't know if that counts as an "edgy, inner battle" character though. She is definitely good but has to watch it during the full moon. She comes from a village of Lycans and other outcasts. Would prefer natural but afflicted is okay.

Unfortunately, one of the big changes I have made applies to lycanthropes, so you would not be able to.

Hmm, seems interesting. I would be interested at 1st or 3rd level as it would give the players a chance to learn the setting and learn whose rules we have to play by. I have no problem with core, I have a skinwalker concept I'd be itching to try out, but nothing it can't be molded into a human or half elf.
I'm thinking Warpriest or Inquisitor as they both fulfill the character type I'd be interested in. It all depends on faiths available and what kind of game you'd like to run. No archetypes, but would you let the players flesh out a church as we go if you make the deity?

We are likely going to just be using the Inner Sea gods. Would that be alright?

You mention dwarves being tolerated in the Fog, and that all races are found in the Northern Tribes, but is there a Dwarf homeland?
Alternatively, do any of the regions boast institutions of magical learning?
Yeah, forgot to post it. To sum it up, the Dwarves have a kingdom underground larger than the continent.
Races of Lannithir: A brief history.
Humans:
Humans arrived to Lannithir millenia ago. It is unknown where they came from, but they share qualities with primates, but also with the other races of Lannithir. They are tall, slender, and full of anger. Humans prefer the comfort of cities and are thus a race of steel. Long ago, the kingdom of man was established, a large empire located in the northern half of the continent. However, the humans of that time waged wars on the elvenkind of the south, and succesfully maintained an empire larger than any empire before. However, many leaders emerged, and the gigantic empire could not be managed by one ruler. Thus, several large provinces were created. They did not last long, as each province argued over rules and power. A civil war larger than any before divided the empire into the individual provinces, the four kingdoms of man. The north, formerly known as Neox, was now vulnerable, and was swiftly invaded from below. Though each tribe has a different story, the most likely event was the invasion of the Steam Legion.
Elves:
Elves are descendants of ancient fey, and are heavily attached to nature. They are prone to squabbling, as they do not see life as valuable due to their extremely long lifespans. The oldest elf in mythology lived to see humankind emerge, go to war with the elves, and then fall. Elves live in relative peace, and much has not hapened in elven history since the war with humankind. They are among the races of nature.
Dwarves:
The dwarven kingdom has existed for longer than any other race. The kingdom of Henhold expands underground thousands of miles, across the entire continent and beyond. Incredibly large cities, hundreds of miles in diameter, dot the stone landscape, and are surrounded in patterns by smaller cities and strongholds. They are a race of steel. The dwarven empire has been united for millenia, and has never argued. The reason for this is a common enemy under the world, the various monsters that have burrowed into the ground. Kobold, goblins, feral orcs, Wormkin, and other creatures consistently terrorize the dwarves.
Orcs:
Orcs are descendants of giants, and are extremely tall and muscular. However, they also share characteristics with the ancient fey, and are quite intelligent. This intelligence, unfortunately, has created the Steam Legion, the largest empire of orcs in Lannithir. The Steam Legion is a gigantic group of hovering cities created in the mountains. Large, mile high constructs cause earthquakes with each step, and the Steam Legion leaves eternal darkness in their wake, the smoke and steam blocking out the sun. They are thus a race of steel, and a force to be reckoned with. In recent history, the Steam Legion has destroyed the large kingdom of Neox, and has settled, for now, along the northern coasts. Any attempts made to defeat them have failed miserably.
Halflings and Gnomes:
It is unknown where halflings and gnomes came from, as they share characteristics with the fey, humankind, dwarvenkind, and elvenkind. Thus, their history is often considered elven history, and some humans do not even know of the existence of gnomes. Halflings, however, are extremely nomadic, and, in recent history, have made names for themselves across the globe. Surprisingly, areas like the Fog and Lamira treat them similarly to humans, with the exception of enslaving them if they commit any crime, whatsoever. Likeable and extremely short, both of these races fit in with both the races of nature, and the races of steel. Depends on who they're talking to, I suppose.

In my case, I'd probably play the Bloodrager - I love the class! My suggestion above was about the Monster Hunters thing. Reading on the races above and considering my class, I'd like to play as an Orc - but would they use the same stats as regular PF Orcs, or something reviewed for the work? Maybe I could suggest a race build using the rules? :)
