Other than increasing your strength score, how can you improve a strength check to break things?

I've always liked the idea of a character with superhuman strength literally ripping a door off its hinges, or knocking down a brick wall with a tackle. I'd love to be able to take ten to rip an iron door out of a wall, but at DC 28, that's not something you can accomplish on a ten without exceeding the strength score of a great wyrm red dragon.

Aside from having an extremely high strength score, what methods are there to make breaking an object with a strength check easier? Any traits, feats, bonuses, or items that I could get?

A cleric with the strength domain can get a huge bonus to strength checks. Pair it with Destruction/Rage subdomain, obviously. A crowbar adds +2 more and I'm sure there's something alchemical which will aid strength or weaken items, or both.

If you can convince the GM that you aren't supposed to be stunned by your own spectacular entrance Stunning Irruption is a feat you'll want.

Anything that gives a reroll would be good. And at the cost of 2 feats (and being Human), Inexplicable Luck can give you a whopping +8 to any d20 roll, including Strength checks.

I'm currently playing an unchained barbarian in the iron gods adventure path built specifically for breaking and smashing. The unchained rage power, strength stance, gives a +8 bonus to strength checks to break, smash, and lift; I highly recommend it.

If you are using the mythic rules Display of Strength would work. You spend a mythic point and get a +20 circumstance bonus on one strength based skill check, or strength based ability check. It is a tier one universal path ability so all you need is a single mythic tier

Or you can be a prepared caster with 9th level spells and cast Ascension.

The Exchange

Portable Ram so you and your buddy can break down the door.

Strength Surge is still king, I think.

Gatecrasher Half-Orc alternate Race trait, Breaker of Barriers feat, Destructive Blows trait, Sacred Smasher trait, and the Vandal trait(untyped bonus).

Currently, my Half-Orc Breaker Barbarian has a +9 to break things, before Rage.
+11 when Raging. At level 4, it will be +16, with Strength Surge.

Few others: Strength Stance Rage Power, Hive Totem Rage Power, Order of the Hammer Cavalier Order, Oath of the Unbound feat, Untwisting Iron Strength feat, and Master Chymist Burly Advanced Mutagen.

1 level of Wizard, pick your flavor. Swap Scribe Scroll for the Knowledge is Power arcane discovery to add your Int bonus on all Strength checks to break or lift objects, CMB and CMD.

You also get bonuses for being larger size catagories. With just enlarge person you not only get an extra +2 Str but you get +4 on strength checks to break anything for being Large Catagory, find a way to bump it up to huge and you have a +8 instead. Growth Domain is also another way to get access to enlarging yourself and its much more thematic if your going for that person that just rips stuff with his bare hands.

Can you provide a source for the size bonus to strength checks? I could use that at the moment.

Larger and smaller creatures get size bonuses and size penalties on Strength checks to break stuff.

Fine –16, Diminutive –12, Tiny –8, Small –4, Large +4, Huge +8, Gargantuan +12, Colossal +16.

Actually, the rule only refers to breaking doors. At the bottom of this page.

If you're particularly good at breaking through doors and walls, you should take this feat.

Oh Yeah!
