Scarab Sages

...They get Fighter Training 3 levels early (at the expense of Knowledge Pool), and at 10th level, when they'd normally get Fighter Training...nothing.

Was this intentional? Might there be errata? It doesn't quite seem fair, as though they're stuck being one class feature behind other Magi.

The way I read it, the Kensai gets two differnt kinds of weapon Fighter Training.

At 7th level he gets the Fighter Training related to his favored weapon at his magus level -3.
However, there is no mention that he loses the normal Fighter Training gained at level 10, allowing him to pick up Disruptive or other Fighter-only feats.

Grand Lodge

Thats how I read it

Myrmidarchs also used to have both forms of fighter training. They changed that in the second printing of UC, but I guess they forgot to do the same with the Kensai.

Scarab Sages

So it's simply an advance on how soon they can learn the weapon-specific subset of Fighter feats? Okay, but that still seems like a net loss of one class feature to get one in two installments. Am I missing something?

The 7th level features is not just an advance, it allows the Kensai to take Fighter feats normally unavailable to the Magus (like Greater Weapon Specialsization).

Scarab Sages

Do you just mean because it allows more of their level to count as Fighter levels?

Yes. Not the strongest class feature, but all things considered I don't think the kensai is left behind.

Scarab Sages

Alright, thanks.
