From what I understand about the Soulbound Puppet, is that it is more of a short duration spell deliverer with a couple added bonuses.
And some options are not good in combat honestly, where most of those other bonuses are only good for certain skills. And the initiative ones would only be useful if it was already out before combat started, which is unlikely.

If so, is there any way to give the soulbound puppet the ability to talk?Well... it says "Treat this as a familiar". Which gives two options:
- At its 5th level it gains the ability to "speak with master". So cast a Tongues spell on it, and it can speak with anyone.
- Also at 5th level: a Decoy Familiar can speak. So ask your GM if you can apply a Familiar Archetype to the puppet. Per RAW it should be possible.

Oh, my! Archetypes on Soulbound Puppets! That is an amazing idea!

My ventriloquist dummy is "Prince Orlando, Elf Prince of Mirkwood." He looks like a blonde elf in a green outfit with a tiny longbow and arrows.
So if I can swap the default feats for a familiar, I change the homunculus Lightning Reflexes to Martial Weapon Proficiency (longbow).
Eventually, I upgrade his tiny bow to be a +1 Flaming Longbow. Instant fire arrow turret!
