so your born you start dieing of age you have a set amount of time till the poison called aging kills you. for some that's 70 - 90 years for others its 300+ years but in time aging will get you and you will fall over dead.
but for the alchemist and wizards and monks and druids ..... not sure about that last one. they have the ability to stop the poison called aging. and since they don't age they will never get to a point that aging will kill them off.
now i have seen that people say that you only can stay alive for x amount of years then you stop living. but how is that its not like aging is a creature that hunts you and if it was you have taken steps to repel it or make yourself undetectable by it. and it is not like you can not die, a sword still does the stabbing thing and the poison still does the poison thing. but as long as your careful aging should not be able to kick the bucket out from under your feet and cause you to gasp your last breath.
take The alchemist has discovered a cure for aging, and from this point forward he takes no penalty(===>stops aging<====) to his physical ability scores from advanced age(aka eternal life). If the alchemist is already taking such penalties, they are removed at this time.
sure he continues to live growing beyond his years but if he discovered the cure for aging at 35 a year later he will still be 35 years old physically though time wise he is in his 36th year of life and 400 years later he will be 35 years old still and maybe mad as a hatter hiding some where or else has taken to the planes out of shear boredom. or he is still on the same plane but every 20 years or so he changes his looks and moves to some where else. or is dodging assassins, because ........ old enemies, gods out for his old soul...>.> or what ever.he has stopped aging but can still die by other means other then death.
anyways those are just my thoughts. what are yours?would you play for immortality? any dms out there have immortal pcs that turned npcs running about or hiding in their games?

There are a wide number of creatures that specifically make it their entire purpose to hunt down immortals.
And these creatures go on many different places on the alignment spectrum- psychopomps, daemons, inevitables, etc. etc.
You might get theorictical immortality...but many will want to disprove that theory.

Technically Monk Of The 4 Winds and the Reincarnated Druid ARE immortal. Well... the druid is nearly immortal (you need to kill him 2x in a week tostay dead).
The monk Of The 4 winds is COMPLETELY immortal....ish... depends on how you want to define "immortal". If by immortal you mean "cannot die" theN he is not immortal... technically... if by immortal you mean "does not stay dead" then yes. He is immortal lol.

The Witch has two ways:
1) Beast Bonded 10th gets Twin Soul: Kill your body, and magic jar another. Repeat as needed.
2) Grand Hex Forced Reincarnation: Apply to self and get a young adult body. [And two negative levels, but hey, that can be fixed easily.] Repeat as needed. Free witness protection built in.
