Theoretical question regarding Siege of Serpents:
I think I remember reading from the last PbP multi-table special that individual tables were to complete sections by certain dates to contribute to the multi-table aspect. In the traditional PbP sense this would be done over the entire period of time with a series of board posts. If a group agreed upon it, e.g. a pre-arranged table, could these individual sections be completed by playing live using a VTT sporadically as the scenario moves along rather than at the pace of posts? Or would there be issues with the timing of the VTT play being too fast (even if just 20-30 minutes to resolve a combat) vs. the PbP play?

Good question - You can use any VTT for mapping and chat for a PbP game during the gameday, but A/V is not allowed. It's not really in the spirit of the event, and the event syncing could get wonky. Live play would finish combats much faster than forum play and could skew some of the combat success sensitive sections too much, so no audio/video for the PbP Gameday.
There is a VTT Gameday coming up soon enough - so we should reserve live play for that. :)

Over at the other Game Day thread, I made a suggestion for DM's and Players to offer a few suggestions they would like to be able to play.
It wouldn't hurt at all to throw out some "pirate" themed ones. :P

So, I would be willing to run the special as well as Serpents Rise, I am going to be at a convention on September 18-20, so might not be able to start until Sept 20 (evening) at the earliest.
Would this be acceptable?
Also, are rules for the interactive special going to be posted soon? (How will the timing work?)

I moved the sign-up form link to a more obvious place in the announcement post and removed it from the FAQ.

If we're recruiting and playing on the paizo forums, do we need to make a recruitment thread now to be able to register? I'd like to wait until a little closer to the time when the games may begin.
I'd like to maybe run the SilverHex chronicles quests or the Phantom Phenomena quests. However, I notice that the Phantom Phenomena quests are all in one entry in the drop-down box, while the Silverhex ones are spread out across multiple entries. Do we need to register multiple times for Silverhex, once for each of the sections?
Finally, I've previously recruited a group of players to run through the three We Be Goblins modules on the forums, and I estimate that the third module will fall within the timeframe of the gameday. I think I can use that one as part of the gameday event, right?

Need to ask a question about the season special.
I've started recruiting for a subtier 4-5 table. My fourth sign-up is a level 6 character. Usually subtier 4-5 is paired with subtier 1-2, but the season specials have subtiers for levels 1-11.
Does this mean that the level 6 can play at my table and get the average gold for subtier 4-5 and subtier 5-6?
Edit: I might have made a wrong assumption about the subtier division. How are the subtiers divided for this season special, and can people play out of tier?

For the special you can play within one sub-tier of your PC's level appropriate sub-tier.
So, for example, in the special, a level 3 or level 4 PC could play in Sub-tier 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 - but could not play in Sub-tier 7-8, or 10-11.
Ideally, we would like to keep PCs in sub-tiers in their PC level range though.
I will add that to the FAQ.

We do need your recruitment thread in a relatively early period before the start of the gameday. If you guys want, I can create a "Coming Soon" Default page to use until you are ready but we will need the recruiting thread links before the start of the gameday so you will have enough time to recruit ahead of time and people will have enough time to sign up.
Phantom Phenomena was an oversight - we will correct that so it lists the individual parts.
As long as the game is PFS PbP played (start to finish) during the gameday time-frame you can include "We be Goblins Free!".

Thanks Jesse. I think I have our first full table for siege of serpents. APL 4.5 with 6 people.
The signup link I gave was wrong, but doesn't matter since the table is full now.
If you want to update the table, this is the correct url:

@Jesse, maybe I missed this, but where are the rules for the time progression on the interactive special, Siege of Serpents. I was considering running it, but wanted to know how this was supposed to work, first.
We will be sending out details about the way the special and exclusive will work to GMs soon. We are just nailing down the exact forum we will be using for GM coordination, since it will be private/limited to GMs only.
How are we handling the mustering of the Siege of Serpents? I have seen some recruitment threads posted but you end up with a lvl 3 trying to join the same table as a lvl 8.
I have asked for player to provide Character levels so that Everyone who joins in can see what Tier is available though I agree that having GMs put up Tiers is good. It's just that we don't know how many of each tier to put up.
As far as tiers go - Mythweavers and BoardGameGeeks are creating a single coordination thread, and then distributing players and tiers from that. I will start a player "interest" thread for that purpose here. I will ask one of the Paizo PbP regulars to help oversee it.
There will always be a disproportionate number of tables in the low to mid sub-tiers, and only a table or two at the 10-11 tier. (IRL or Online) We need to make sure we provide as many tables/tiers to cover the most players possible - so we need to be flexible as players muster.
We'll start the thread for player interest and build out form there.
Also There are already people asking for CORE version of the Special and Exclusive.
A GM can run the Special and/or Exclusive in CORE mode if they choose. That is perfectly acceptable.
Do I need to link a recruitment thread if I already have a full muster for that table? I'd feel bad -sort of 'here is the cool party, but we are full, soz'
I have a fixed set of players who will fill one muster, then I'll have a public table for a different scenario...
I will add a "private" tag to the listing and submission, but we still need the games submitted and the game URL so that they can be counted for prize support, et cetera.
If I want to run all 6 parts of Silverhex as a single table would I need to submit them all separately?
I can add an "All" for the multi-part quests, if you guys like.
Quest The Silverhex Chronicles (Parts 1-6) [1]
Just make sure you indicate clearly in the recruitment post that all six parts are being offered.
Is is possible to modify the system to allow GMs to edit their sign up links, or to mark a table as full?
This would require the creation of a login system to limit who edits what, but we could do that.

I have already mustered a table of 6 players and determined a subtier. (They are all level 4 or 5, and will be playng subtier 5-6 with 4 player adjustment.) Should I refer them to that forum, or should I just keep my table as it is since it is already full?

I think a lot of us are excited to do this. I was looking through the registered tables and checking out their recruitment threads. A lot of the tables are completely mustered, especially Rise since it requires no thought as to apl. I saw tables fill in less that 3 hours.

Just so you know, the specials do not have four player adjustments.

If you already have a table mustered you are good-to-go. The new thread will be more of a player looking for table thread.

:P
Is there a hard mode?
I think you guys will be sufficiently challenged with half your party at level 4 in tier 5-6. But I'm also not the hardest GM. I've only killed 1 character to date (it was a difficult meat-grinder module), and I like rewarding alternative creative solutions if my players come up with them.
We have a discussion thread up so discuss it with your fellow team mates! :)

Just curious, for those whose games have not been filled enough to legally play, will there be an option to cancel it or swap it out down the road?
I've had only one individual show interest in Quests, for example, and I didn't realize at the time I posted it, that a new serious of Quests just hit, which might draw a bit more attention.
I'd like to wait a bit longer, but I'm just curious how to handle that.
