Help making a Steven Universe

Advice

I'm trying to think of a way to build Steven Universe. I know his powers are focused on protection and healing. He, like this mother, has the ability to see the beauty in all things.

I was thinking maybe a paladin of Shelyn. A defensive build that utilizes sword & board that prefers a peaceful solution over combat. I don't know if I should go for an archetype or go straight up Paladin.

If you're going paladin, Oath of Loyalty/Oath of Charity/Oath against Grotesquery is one of my favorite combinations. I highly recommend it.

Well I'm going on what abilities he has. A seemingly impenetrable shield, a healing touch, protective bubble, a faithful pink lion companion, and the ability to empower his allies in combat. He acts more like a bard/paladin currently. He's no fighter, but he'll do his best in a fight if he must.

It bears mentioning that I've never seen the show - I'm feeling my way through this.

That said, I'd look at those Oaths - there's a fair amount of what you've described.

Loyal Oath exchanges smite for a powerful protective ward.
Charitable Hands empowers your Lay on Hands for others.
The loyal oath has elements of protective bubble.
The lion companion could be arranged through certain feats and such (and a lenient GM).
Empowering allies could be done through either a bard multiclass (variant multiclass, possibly) or through paladin spells like bless.

Mkay, well all of Steven's abilities stem from his lineage. He is half human, half gem.

Gems are... To put it simply, Hard-light holograms with a gemstone somewhere on the physical body. That Gemstone is to a Gem, what a phylactery is to a Lich. If a gem's body were to be damaged enough, they would retreat into the gemstone and heal overtime. Noone knows what'll happen to Steven because he has a body of flesh and blood. He needs to eat, breath, and sleep, where Gems don't.

I don't know if the idea would pan out or not, because all of his abilities come from his gem which he inherited from his mother. She and Steven can't exist together, so she gave up her physical form so he could be born.

why not go full paladin with VMC Bard?

Edit: you could use Archon Style to replicate how he constantly dives and blocks attacks for people

I would suggest a cleric with the protection and animal domain
With a spell storing called heavy shield with petarmancy shrink item on it
Who is the stone elemental kin race with Christine feature

I wouldn't focus too much on making an exact copy of steven universe and being slightly lenient, like the heritage thing can be the fluff and him gaining more control of his powers would be him gaining paladin levels.

How about making Stephen Hawking instead?

He would look something like this-

Str 1

Dex 1

Con 1

Int 24

Wis 14

Cha 14

he's paralyzed due to stat drain? damn.

Yeah, I'm looking to focus more on his protective and caring nature. I've looked at the Sacred Shield archetype, and have a glamoured shield that appears as a rose-shaped something, that he/she wears all the time.

Main idea would be to end the fighting before it starts, definitely diplomatic and prefers non-lethal combat if there is no option.

As for VMCing Bard, I'd have to talk with my GM, but it does look good for the idea.

Sadly he isn't.

Stat drain can be remedied fairly readily. Motor Neuron Disease cannot.

Why not go Paladin with the Sacred Shield archetype? Trade bonuses to damage for and aura of damage reduction with Smite Evil?

I can definitely go for the Sacred Shield archetype. I'm actually looking at the build intensely right now. I'm just struggling to figure out a way to apply a throwing quality to the shield without heavily feat-taxing myself.

You could just get the magical ability for throwing. Cash instead of feats.
