Demon / ghost hunting ranger, what to take along?

Advice

I'm curious about what others put in there bag when there out hunting :-)

Our game will getting some ghosts (undead/incorpeal) and demons to kill :-) What are some good strategies to combat these monsters as a ranger?

What weapons are must-haves? Are there items like holy water or others that are very useful?

I'm thinking about maybe using some ranger traps, I found these 2 traps, are these any good?

---------------------------------
ANCHORING TRAP (SU)
EFFECTS
This trap can be added to a supernatural snare trap. The trap briefly imprisons any called creature (such as those called by the planar binding spells) for 1d4 rounds (Will negates). During this time the creature may not move from the location of the trap, though it may still use ranged effects and attack any creature within its reach. Additionally, anchoring traps disable the creature’s ability to t ravel within or between dimensions. This includes casting astral projection, blink, dimension door, dimensional gate, ethereal jaunt, etherealness, gate, maze, plane shift, shadow walk, teleport, teleportation circle, and similar spell-like abilities. The trap does not prevent the creature from using magic items that produce these effects, like cubic gates, helms of teleportation, or amulets of the planes. The trap can hold up to a Medium creature; each extra daily use of the ranger’s trap ability spent when the trap is set increases the maximum size of creature the trap can hold by one size category.
-------------------------
Transdimensional Trap (Su)
EFFECTS
This augmentation allows a trap to affect an incorporeal or ethereal creature as if it were corporeal or existed on the Material Plane.
Magical Component scroll of ghostbane dirge

When there is something strange in the neighbourhood, who you gonna call?? Paizo forum? :-)

Demons are horrid. Get cold iron weapons and some way to cast Bless Weapon.

Ghostbane Dirge in one form or another is going to be crucial as well.

Both of those traps sound useful.

Really you need +1 holy cold iron weapons, but they are expensive.

Protection from Evil, this spell does so much for you. Learn it. Use it.

Other characters with higher will saves.

Some ghost touch weaponry...? Also, something to defend against mind control, possession, you get the idea. It's way to much of a demon/spirit stereotype for the DM to not use it at some point. Also, did you mean demons in the literal sense, or evil extraplanar beings in general, like devils and daemons?
Changes the situation a lot depending on the answer.

Thanks! Ill check out the items. Were going for
Real
Deomons, inspired by the companion about demons.. Sorry lost the name.

Ghostbane dirge is super iffy because will negates and outsiders and undead have good will saves. What you really need for incorporeal is a Ghost Touch net. Throw it on the bastards and watch them suffer with their -5 strength modifier and inability to phase into walls because the net is still solid.

How do things like magic weapons and silver do against ghosts, demons and others? Where can i find in the books what hurts who?

Non-magic weapons simple cannot hurt incorporeal creatures at all. If it is magic, it deals half damage. If it is Ghost Touch, it deals full damage.

In regards to silver/cold iron, certain creatures have damage reduction that requires a weapon made of those materials or a +3 weapon to bypass. Similarly admanatine DR can be bypassed by an admantine weapon or a +4 weapon and alignment DR (if it says DR good/evil/lawful/chaotic) can be bypassed with certain abilities that do so or a +5 weapon. Off the top of my head I can't recall which types of outsiders most commonly have silver or cold iron DR, but it is in their bestiary stat blocks.
