Target of Opportunity Team Work Feat / Double Barreled Pistol

I have a question for all of you rules gurus out there...

The Target of Opportunity Team Work feat states that when an ally shoots at somebody, if your weapon is ready you can make an immediate action to make a "single ranged attack" against that opponent.

The double barreled pistol allows you to fire both barrels "as a single action".

Does this mean, under the auspices of the feat, as an immediate action I can fire both barrels?

So we have an FAQ that says you count as your own ally unless it would be physically impossible or wouldn't make sense for it do so.

In the case of Team Work feats, it certainly isn't the intention to give something to yourself. So if you question was can your trigger the ability and make the attack for attacking (instead of having a friend attack) I would think that's against the spirit of the rules.

If an ally (not you) shoots a target, you can make "one single ranged attack" at the same target. Even though your double-barreled pistol generally lets you fire two shots as a single action, I think this is a case where specific (one ranged attack) trumps general (double-barreled).

So just the one attack, methinks.

Not what he's asking. He's asking if firing both barrels count as a "single ranged attack" for Target of Opportunity, and thus could he fire them both in response to a ally shooting someone.

@OP: I'd personally not allow it, but that's because double barreled guns are stupidly strong anyway. I'm not sure which direction has more rules support.

I wouldn't allow it. But I wouldn't allow double barrel guns in the first place.

Wow, I didn't even think of this. That's actually pretty funny, fire the one barrel and then get a free shot with the other due to some serious rules lawyering without paying the -4 penalty. Smart!

But yeah, the other guys got the question right...I'm just wondering if I can fire both barrels as part of the immediate action granted to me by my partner.

As written, the rules say you can fire both barrels since you can do that as a 'single attack'.

Also as several others have said, double barrelled guns are silly and need rewriting. So you have to check with your GM to see if this has been houseruled.

My personal opinion is that single barrelled guns are not as good as a longbow, but double barrelled guns (as written) are too effective.
