Hello all,
Brighthaven would like for you all to join us in clearing the Mordent Spire! The monster hex is located NE of Brighthaven, and we will be spending all Saturday working on the hex! So please feel free to come down and join us kill off those pernicious elves!
I posted on the GW forums, my desire to attend this event. It would represent the shift that Aragon has recently begun.
As an open invitation I would anticipate that this will not turn into a gang bang, especially since I have had no negative actions with TEO in game, and few to be honest in the forums.
I'm hopeful to bring between 3-5 members of Aragon, but I'd be equally pleased to mix company with either TEO or EL.

We have been able to take down the escalation by more than half; it was at around 51% when we started and is now down to 24.8%! Multiple players from several settlements as well as PFU attended, at peak time we had around twenty players in the hex. Great fun was had by all, newbies and old dogs, locals and outside guests worked well together and made this success possible! Great job and Thank you to all of you!
We will be continuing tomorrow, everyone is welcome to come and join in!

Just a thought, for the "Archers", and perhaps the other "squads' as well.
This event was well organized and had approximately three groups to serve a specific role. A very good idea.
"Puller(s)"
"Fighters"
"Archers"
However, target acquisition, even when calling out targets is extremely difficult. The mob name tags are TOO SMALL and the PURPLE color is perhaps the worse choice.
Second, mob behavior is somewhat unpredictable and it then gets matched with unpredictable player behavior. Blob mentality is often what it devolves in and is just about as effective, when you have the numbers that we did (20+).
Suggestions:
1a. Archers stand off to a designated flank of the mob cluster. This should avoid most of the unintentional targeting of allied players (I think I shot one of LifeDragn's ears off).
1b. Alpha Strike! If timed properly any "reds" (which I know were not many) should drop without aggroing the cluster.
Secondary targets for Alpha Strike, the hind-most mob that has been kited.
1c. "Slow Your Role". Being primarily an archer, I have learned in these big groups to slow my combat down. I try to make sure my target is a mob, and I try to target Mobs that are already taking damage.
A weakened mob does just as much damage as one with full health.
2. Large Group Communications.
Everyone in same channel, although for the most part it was orderly, could be organized in this manner.
In some VOIP programs, you can be in one channel and "ghost" or listen to in another. If not, then you can open up two separate clients using multiple tabs or even multiple services (ie. Mumble and Teamspeak.)
Raid Leader Channel:
He / She call the shots, set to mic and listen.
Squad Leaders 1 - 3: Ghost, set to listen
Individual Squad Channels:
Squad Leader: Set to mic and listen
Players 1-5: set to mic and listen
This should cut down on cross chatter and will lead to more precise action (ie. target acquisition).
Overall, I would like to thank TEO for putting together this event.

Thanks to everyone that showed up on Saturday. @Phyllain, HEY, I am an Elf.....in all seriousness, it would be nice to get beyond the "enemy" thing and have you join us, even if it is only for specific activities and we can ensure everyone involved that their will be no PVP during a strict PVE event. PVP does and will have its time in different situations and future game goals.....

I believe we presently have a mature enough user base to run such an event without unwanted strife assuming appropriate notifications are sent out and invitations remain open. And being able to do so without having to rely on PFU is, in my opinion, a solid chance to make a political statement that we are here to have fun and are not taking any rivalries or skirmishes personally. And it will also give us a feel for which groups are feeling the same way. It may not, and is not intended to, erase rivalries but it certainly helps keep them in context of being friendly rivalries as opposed to seething hatred rivalries which would be unhealthy.
PFU is great and I fully support it. But to rely too strongly on it as a political neutralizer would be both a disservice to everyone as well as abandoning a host of benefits to be had through direct sponsorship. I would encourage more groups to do this as well!

After some very enjoyable tower pvp with TSV...
We felt the same way!
You may have noticed I personally got a little confused when I finally got there and was charging in right as y'all all unflagged. I was still trying to process what happened when you killed me. Eventually figured out y'all had capped the Tower and closed the PvP window. I need more experience with stuff like that so I don't freeze up when I don't understand what's going on :)

Bludd, thanks for the input. Since that night we have refined our tactics further which has made the grind much more fluid with less chatter in the channel. Hopefully we can hunt together again in the future so you can see first hand the changes we have made....
I would be happy to rejoin your hunting parties, or to seek other groups at other escalation sites.
