Elemental Rage, Lesser Question

Silver Crusade

To my understanding this rage power lets a barbarian add an elemental damage of 1d6 as a swift action for 1 round on top of any other damage the barbarian does with his weapon per rage. This per rage is where my question comes from. Is it per rage as in each round of rage the barbarian uses or per rage as in once only per the duration of a rage (battle lasts 5 rounds, but can only use the elemental rage power so it affects only one of the 5 rounds)?

The latter. Note that if you stop and restart the rage (either by waiting out the fatigue, magically remove it, are immune to it, or some other way) you can use it again. This is referred to as "rage cycling".

Right but if you are in a 5 round battle where you can't get rid of the fatigue if you stop the rage then this power only affects one of those round so it's kind of a useless rage power. I thought it affects the weapon through the whole rage as long as your barbarian stayed raged, but seems this power only lasts 1 round no matter how many rounds your barbarian stays raged or am I misreading this?

Yeah, 1 round per rage, max. Most of the no prerequisite Rage Powers are rather lackluster. It's the later ones that are really good.

True, it does seem lacking. And not many folks are going to rage-cycle at level 4. (I'm not sure how to bring the concept up with my GM since we're trying to avoid all-out cheesery ... )

It does have a little benefit: If for some reason you're making more than one attack a round, it does hit them all. (This coming from the one who put a question up about Animal Fury, so you know I'm giving the thought of FLAMING BARBARIAN TEETH some serious thought!) And it does explicitly (kind'a) stack with the better version (as long as you don't mind doing two types of energy).

But as mentioned above, yeah, there's a reason these are called LESSER. Look at Beast Totem, Lesser. If you're dedicated to using two-handed weapons, its only use is to give you backup weapons. But Beast Totem has some nice use, and I've heard of some people who have had some success with utilising Greater's ability ...

Wouldn't the rage powers: fey blood lesser, undead blood lesser, or celestial blood lesser be even better though? You can even have all three and with a weapon that has a critical range of 15-20 then they would totally rock. You can also use those with teeth by the way....lol.

you can't have multiple bloodline rage powers. You can only have one line. and the real perk of elemental is getting flight at greater elemental bloodline.

Lesser elemental is good as a small burst once per rage. And it is a prereq for the higher ones that allow you to deal energy damage with every attack.

The elemental bloodline power, by the way, allows you to add the damage for 3 rounds per day (more at high levels), which might be better or worse depending on your number of battles each day.

And if you use rage cycling you can do it every round.

Scarab Sages

THe next tier of the elemental tree adds elemental damage for the full rage, instead of 1/rage.
