I have seen a few of them advertised. I have been looking for a way to get started without my ineptitude spoiling someones gaming.
Speaking from tabletop experience only there always seemed to be those playing that went out of their way to learn everything and wanted to impart their knowledge on others.
I have found plenty of other posts from players looking to try pbp for the first time so I am sure the interest would be there

I'm not in a position where I can start up another game, but if you make an interest check post asking for new players and a GM for a beginner game, you'll likely get a few bites. As for modules that are beginner-friendly, We Be Goblins is supposed to be really fun, and there's usually a lot of interest for it.

Actually, PFS PbP is perfect for that. PFS games are not usually all that tough - especially at the early levels. So if someone is still learning that is more than fine. Also, you have plenty of time to go look up the rule/spell/weapon/maneuver without holding up the game.
PFS PbP tend to fill up very fast though. Though many GM's will give priority to new players. So you need to check this forum pretty often.
Look for some of the following PFS scenarios being run (they are excellent for a beginner to the system):
Confirmation
First Steps Part 1
The Wounded Wisp
Master of the Fallen Fortress
We Be Goblins

Here is the best thread I've found to get into a PFS game. You can go there and simply put your name on a list. They will notify you when a DM starts a new game.
I'm happy to try and help you out also, if you have any specific questions, as I was in your same position about a yr ago. Just send a private message to me.
(click the name above the portrait. on the page that comes up, there will be a link next to the portrait that says, "send private message".)

Another good place to find games is The Flaxseed Lodge They are really good with new players, and there is almost always a game of some level that is opening up or recruiting. Just dot in on the tabs so that you can keep it on your campaign tab, then browse the spreadsheets listed in the header. When you find something that you like, add your name in.

I can speak from current experience (I'm in Confirmation now, and have heard Wounded Wisp is also lower level) that my ineptitude has been met with much graciousness from other players :) Look for the ongoing recruitment for PFS Play-by-Post by GM Kludde. I'm having a good time participating in his game and the players have been great about advice- Once you're in a game, make use of the discussion thread for that campaign, as it's really helpful when trying to figure out one's next move :) Good luck!
