Heya, I'm new here as well, and I'm feeling ambitious enough to try for this thing - feeling really bolstered looking through all the past submissions and forum stuff. People have put together some really creative stuff over the years in this competition - I hope I can compete and i'm definitely going to try.
And this may be a bit forward, but I'm a big believer in learning by doing - so I hope someone here'll have the patience to give this quick practice submission a friendly go-over. Just so i can start to get into the swing of things. I'm fully aware this item has some problems, and one of the construction requirement spells 'blood money' isn't in the prd. But I'm trying to follow the advice given a few pages back that one shouldn't submit top-32 potentials in the practice thread.

Welcome Flanwaw,
Blood Merchant's Gloves
Looks pretty good to me minus some formatting issues. though blood money is not on the PRD it appears to be Paizo's property (it's possible a spell name has been changed to avoid copyright issues on commercial sites).
- commas are missing in the thousands place of price & cost.
- spells shouldn't be capitalized
- lbs. isn't needed for negligible weights, however gloves should have a weight.
15 uses a day seems a lot, especially when we don't know how long the activation lasts. A barbarian cleric combo could break the wealth curve. Otherwise the concept & execution look good.
Nice work :).

The Blood Merchant's Gloves remind me a lot of Coinshots from Mistborn and Meowth's Payday.
If the weight is null, you don't need "lbs." Reference
Gloves have a wearer, not wielder.
"These darts are destroyed on use like normal darts." maybe should be "These coins..."
I can't think of a situation in which an ability with charges exceeds 5/day, or a reason to break that precedent here.
What's the action to activate the second ability? Is it a command word?

Eish, it's amazing how many little things you can miss. But i guess it's why you gotta practice. Completely missed the capitalization issues, Curaigh, and I hadn't even noticed that 5/day precedent... completely forgot about activation as well.
I guess that's the sort of thing you miss when most of the stuff you make like this isn't put under proper scrutiny on a regular basis.

Trust me, once you start seeing other people's items and casting votes, you'll lose track of time and barely ever feel like you'll want to stop. Each time you vote, you see a pair of items and must choose which is the better of the two. You may or may not see your own item as you vote. It's randomized. Paizo collects many, many such votes, and by magic (or math) determines a rank order for all of the items.
Sadly, this is very true...

Hmm, are we supposed to put the name of the item in all caps? I thought I read somewhere that we are not, but in the CRB the names are all caps.
I know that we're supposed to put the name in a separate field and also in the body of the submission, so I guess that question applies to both spots where we type the name of the item.
Speaking of names--the name is giving me the most difficulty for my item right now.

They should not be in all caps. That's a style for the layout of the book, but isn't how it's submitted. It's honestly not a huge deal when it comes to Superstar, except I think it sets your item off on the wrong foot, which makes it a bigger deal than it really is.
A good name is really important. It's often one of the last things I come up with (for magic items or people or towns or whatever).

There is a pdf of mine linked on www.gamesdesignadvice.com, on the resources page. If that link still works, it includes a lot of the formatting stuff for wondrous items.
Weapons and armors are extensions of this formatting, with much of it applying to all, you just need to double check you follow conventions in the core rule book - e.g. weapons all tend to be slot none even if you hold them in your hands.
It's the first link under the heading Games Design Books and does still seem to work, and it is a pdf format so should be easy to read if you download it. I hope it helps.

Now that's a bookmark right there, thankee.
mbauers: yeah, again, threw that together in 45 minutes just to dip my toe into the formatting style. I certainly can't speak to the quality of the name, as names are very difficult and I really didn't want to spend the hours I usually need to make a decent name on a practice softball.

I just posted an open call for Plant monster pitches over in the 3PP forums.
