The young elfling keeps his trap shut as he helps row to shore. He looks sideways at the gnome as he manages to get a seagull to bring him an old hat. Barefoot as he steps out of the boat and helps pull it up past the high tide mark, he sits on the gunwale to put his boots back on.
"Sure, the deserted, dilapidated village. Makes as much sense as anything else." Maybe more. Might be some shelter for through the night.
He joins the others in trying to be aware of their surroundings.

Mateo hops out of the boat, enjoying the way he wobbles lightly as his feet get used to solid land again. Mateo took a breath, smiling as he looked about the island. Lanni's bird talk was promptly ignored, the strange gnome's antics were readily accepted by the swashbuckler and never argued. You don't argue with one who heals you and supports you.
"Well, we can check the town but I don't think swimming tentacled goblins would be lairing there. Maybe we can find someplace to rest the night."

You make your way cautiously into what was once a fishing village, years ago. Discarded nets, stone hearths, and rotting piers are most of what remains. A couple of the buildings still stand, most are little more than foundations and crumbling walls.
Upon closer inspection, the odd bone scarecrows are covered in scrimshaw carvings, and the bones show signs of being gnawed upon.
Atia Leroung
Atia inspects the odd bone scarecrows, pulling a disgusted face. "Ugh, someone chewed on these. Who knows if it was before or after this thing was put together."
"Shall we look for a suitable spot to sleep tonight?" She asks, looking around at everyone and gesturing grandly at the dilapidated homes. "It seems we have our pick of the loveliest of homes."
Mateo Nikas
"A bone scarecrow? Lovely." Mateo says with his lips pursed together, moving to the boney man to examine him more closely in detail. His good eye checks to see what the scrimshaws are of while he tries to figure out what kind of teeth were used on the bone.
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 9
"I doubt it." Mateo says quickly after Atia mentions that they have their pick of the towns here. "A village doesn't just die off for no reason. They especially don't put up bones either. Something ain't right."
Atia Leroung
Atia stares blankly at the one-eyed swashbuckler for a moment and then nods. "I should work on my sarcasm." She chuckles, grinning at Mateo. "Yes, that much is clear. I imagine much about this entire place is...off."
Mateo Nikas
"Oh...great. This isn't one man. This is many men." Mateo said, shaking his head softly for a moment as he looked over at Atia. "I meant that we have our pick. I expect some to be occupied. Nature loves filling in empty spots."
The man draws his rapier and begins to quietly head inwards now, looking carefully between the different buildings and dilapidated ruins.

Grindylows.
Having had up close, personal experience with them very recently, Des is certain the odd bone fetishes were created by them. The creatures have multiple rows of teeth, matching what she can see of the bones, which are covered in scrimshaw that heavily favors tentacled patterns or figures.
As the group explores the small village, though, they find no sign of living grindylows. A few harmless creatures have moved in to some of the more intact buildings, a small troupe of monkeys giving you all a start when they rush out of one. A large, lazy constrictor snake is curled in an old crumbling hearth, and crabs amidst the sands are plentiful.
You all find a building that should serve your needs for a night. It was likely the meeting hall for the village once upon a time, and would easily house the whole group of you without needing to sleep in a pile. The roof was missing in a few places, but the rain had passed and it was looking to be a clear night.
As you set up camp you are reacquainted with one of land's particular annoyances -- insects. Mosquitoes and botflies are quick to try and take advantage of the bounty you present. They do not swarm, but present an annoying, constant nuisance.
Feel free to set a watch, eat, RP, whatever you'd like before sleep. You're finally a traditional adventuring party!

"I can help with a watch, but...I'm not necessarily the most observant person," Atia says to 'Dreamer. "I will need some time before we set off in the morning to memorize some helpful spells...I will try to wake up early and not hold us up."
Atia slaps away mosquitos and botflies, an annoyed look on her face. She thinks about Lanni's talking to Asmodeus and, while she can't actually speak in the bird's mind, she does have an arcane connection to him... so she tries. She coaxes the parrot onto her wrist and holds him up to speak to the bird face-to-face. "You like bugs, right, As? Keep them off of us, please?" She pleads with the bird, petting his head gently with a finger.
Mechnically speaking, I'm not a great choice for a watch with +1 to Perception, so I tried to come up with a good RP explanation for it :P

He fishes out some pots and pans from his pack
Well, I guess we can use these while the rest of us get some sleep
He then lays out his bedroll, and strips out of his armour and crawls in to get some sleep.

Destinie Nicholae
"I'll take that," Des agreed with a nod. As a matter of fact, she had been meaning to talk to Lanni for her own reasons. She couldn't help but smile with the jab, possibly for the first time since the storm.

Atia and Joran set up to sleep slightly away from the others so as not to disturb anyone with their chatting. Atia will unbraid the little braids she had done for him previously and run her fingers through his hair carefully, letting the spell work to de-tangle and clean his long, salt-stiffened hair. She does a cursory once-over on both of them to remove the worse of the dirt, grime, salt, and blood from their clothing and exposed skin.
She is clearly tense as she kneels next to him and works on his hair. She braids the hair at his temples and ties them off at the ends as she had done before, adding a couple more in here and there to make sure all of his hair wouldn't be in the way next time a fight went down. Asmodeus is settled onto her bag nearby, watching the insects flitting around with obvious interest. "Asmodeus should keep us from getting bitten too much," Atia murmurs while she finishes off the last braid, smoothing the rest of his hair away from his face with a small smile. "We should get some rest. Your watch is before mine." She grimaces at the mention of watches and then shakes her head. "Next time, we are taking ours together." She states matter-of-factly.

Shaking his head at himself, Oh man, I hope it's not rubbing off on me. With her comment about getting some rest, "Yeah, that's a good idea."

In the morning
The next morning Lanni mentions to everyone, "I have been hearing some concerning things whispered through the night."
With his hands on his hips as he listens to the gnome, he scratches an itch just behind his hear. I bet you have, little buddy. Among other things I'm sure.
"People dying to the grindylows that we already know about, but there are others moaning about undead, shipwrecks, quicksand, and monsters of various types. So everyone be on your guard at all times. Apparently this island is a lot more dangerous than it deserves to be."
Stroking his chin as he wonders why the gnome is pointing out the obvious, Well, it's 'a strange island we know nothing about', so, yeah, that kind of goes without saying, my friend. Poor guy. I don't think he's used to all this.
"So," he says brightly, "who is up for a seance while the spellcasters get their spells ready? It will definitely be worth your while. Also, I don't suppose you are all willing to name me as the expedition leader...? It may become important later."
Smiling a little uncomfortably, "Whoa whoa whoa there, little buddy. I'm not sure that's wise to make you leader. Nothing personal, you're just a little 'out there' is all. Actually, I'm not sure why we even need a leader. I'm thinking we manage pretty well as we are." Looking curiously upon the gnome, I know I'm about to regret this next question but, Joran sighs. "I don't suppose you have a reason for that, do you?"
Lanni Talimbi
Joran sighs. "I don't suppose you have a reason for that, do you?"
"Not one that you are likely to believe. Just something to keep in mind for now."
Lanni goes and finds a reasonably comfortable place to sit and pulls out his flute. "Well, everyone. Gather around. Yes even you Thunder Thews," he looks pointedly at Joran. "Do some stretches or push ups or something if you want, just stay here for a while. It really will help."
Lanni plays his flute and starts his focusing and meditations.

Mateo remains quiet as they sleep, occasionally stirring and slapping at an errant bug that bothers him before drifting back to unconsciousness. Dust, moss, and rotten wood fell off bit by bit as he practiced the series of thrusts, jabs, and slices that he had learned over the many years. When their watch is over and the sun begins to rise, Atia goes and gently wakes Joran with a soft kiss on the temple and murmured good mornings. Once he's awake, she packs up their things and pulls her spellbook out. "I need about an hour to study my spells," She explains, tapping her fingers on the cover. "It will be worth it."
She goes and sits near the outskirts of Lanni's meditations, far enough away that she can concentrate, but not so far that she wasn't helpful. She stares at her lover for a moment as she listens to his and Lanni's interaction, resolving to explain to Joran what Lanni was doing and trying to accomplish in hopes that he might finally understand.
After her hour is over, Atia closes her spellbook with a snap and stands up, grinning. "Lanni, I am happy to have you lead us."

"We may have the chance for that soon. Perhaps we can try to make sure you are able to land the killing blow." Atia grins at the witch, raising her eyebrows. "We won't let him force you."

After a while of Lanni's muttered negotiations in a corner of the room, he finishes up his preparations.
Everyone who participated - which I assume is everyone unless they say that they didn't want to participate or left the room - gets their choice of benefit. As well as being able to be targeted by Spirit Surge this time around.
Archmage: Your damaging spells deal an additional 2 points of damage to each target of the same type that they would normally deal.
Champion: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Guardian: You gain a +1 bonus to CMD.
Hierophant: Your healing spells and abilities heal an additional 2 points of damage to each target. This does not affect healing conferred by magic items, nor does it add to fast healing or similar effects.
Trickster: Pick a skill, any skill. Get +1 bonus to it and count it as a class skill.
Spirit Type: Marshal
Seance Boon: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Spirit Bonus: +1 to Charisma checks, Charisma skill checks, and spirit surge rolls (allowing the bonus to count twice).

Taboo: you must embrace any opportunity to spread the legend of yourself and your allies, even when a low profile would be helpful.
Lesser Power: Marshal's Order: You can use spirit surge on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, concentration checks, and skill checks for yourself or allies who participated in the seance. Limit 1 per turn still. Requires line of effect, line of sight, and range 30 feet.

"I'm sure you would be a great leader but we still are all getting to know each other especially you two and there's not really a need I don't think to name one at all, unless you want to let us know more about the need?"
"Well, you probably have more confidence in me as a leader than I do. But I guess in comparison to Captain Plugg I couldn't do any worse."
"But the spirits in council rooms are used to being the big shot movers and shakers. They can get a bit grumpy if they aren't treated that way. Even if it is only lip service with no actual authority."
"Speaking of which, if I do end up allowing too much control, I may get a bit ... bossy. So I apologize in advance if that happens."
Mateo Nikas
Mateo, as he strikes at the post, looks over his head towards the other as the bits of conversation made it to his ear. While he couldn't see as well as others, he could certainly hear alright.
"Ah, good. So we're going to get on with killing Plugg and the others at last?" Wiping the sweat from his brow, he turns towards the group while Lanni quietly mumbles in the corner. "Syl's unsure if she will join them or not, I think. If she does, I wish to make it known that I won't be mad if you have to slay her. It'll make the boat trips significantly more dull but...likely safer...for you all. I think she fancies me." He raises his eyebrows quickly, grinning wide as the seance finishes.
There was a swirl of movement in the room, something unseen that picked up the dust. He almost imagined a sound in his ear, a soft and vengeful voice that made his heart race a beat faster and his sword arm ache to hold the blade again.
"How...quaint." Mateo says, looking over towards Lanni. [b]"Your..uh...meeting? It went well?"
A +2 to Damage is so good. I'm taking Champion. Interesting that they're all named after the Mythic Paths
"Right. Leader." Mateo said with a grin, rubbing elbows with the large man with the greatsword and the actual officer that was accompanying them. "Perhaps we head to the high cliff? Get a look over the whole island?"

Is that where the names came from? I wasn't aware of that. The one that isn't on the short list above is the Marshal spirit type. Still fitting the pattern?
"Ah, good. So we're going to get on with killing Plugg and the others at last?"
"Oh wouldn't that be lovely. Am I right in thinking that none of you voluntarily signed up with the Wormwood? Because I did sign on to be on the Man's Promise. But not under that captain. That is my ship. And I want my ship back."
"But first, we have a couple of crew that are missing. So we rescue the crew, we go back to the ship, we fill at least Plugg and Scourge full of holes and throw them to the sharks. Yea?"
Lanni heads out of the building, throws out another scrap of food, and looks for the seagull from yesterday evening.

Mmhmm! Marshal is on the Mythic list. And their bonuses match the kinds of characters that follow it. Damage. Defense. Arcane. Divine. Leadership.
"Oh. Of course, my little friend. We rescue our friends here, bring back water, murder the officers..." Mateo turns to Seadreamer and shakes his head in a "Not you though" kind of manner. ...and then we take the ship to Rickety Squibs. Those who want off of the ship can and can, well, return to their lives I suppose. I, for one, was aiming for the Shackles. I imagined getting a boat would take some time. Truthfully, Harrigan and his sort kind of put me on a faster timetable."
